Hey everyone I am new to the forum and have learned a lot from you guys. I'm 15 years old and been bow hunting for 4 years. Last night I was bow hunting and shot a doe at 20 yards. As soon as my g5 havoc hit the deer I heard a loud Crack like I hit a tree but I saw the arrow go in the deer but the shot was alittle forward. I let the deer sit over night and this morning I went backed and tracked. Tracked blood to about 100 yards to a thick cut over and the blood disappeared. I walked all through the cut over and could not find her. So my question is, how far do you think the deer will run and do you think she is in the cut overand should I continue looking in the cut over? Also the arrow did not go through the deer but poked out the other side. Thank you for all the help.
Yes look in the cut over. Keep looking . Get some friends to help , speed out and grid pattern it further . She could have went 200 yards. Most likely she is dead now some where. She may try to head to some water. It's hard to predict without seeing the land and terrain
How much penetration did you get? Do you have the arrow? Did she snap any of the arrow off? Do you think you hit the shoulder knuckle or the shoulder blade? Either way will have a sever impact on penetration. What is your draw length and weight? Still need to look, but many times a shoulder shot deer isn't going to die.
You said the arrow poked out the other side. Sounds like you got a good visual of it as it ran, can you also add your hunting height, describe the location of the exit and angle of deer when shot? So many different possibilities but complete penetration should be encouraging depending on impact location/exit.
Deer has been found!! Good mature doe. Ran 100yards fell at the other side of the cut over!! So excited!!
Missed the part about the arrow sticking out. That's more than enough penetration I'd say, lol. Congrats.
Good job and congrats. I have heard that arrow hitting a tree sound before. It is unmistakable once you hear it.
Sounds like 2 baseball bats hitting together...did that twice and had recoveries on both. Congrats on the determination to stick with it and finding your doe
