Recently I have had some health issues in early July I had a surgery, hopefully next week I’ll get cleared to lift more than ten pounds again but I will be at a higher risk for hernias, I have been told I won’t have any issue getting doctors approval for the permanent handicapped permit. I have a little problem with calling myself handicapped I guess. I know deer season is going to be here before we know it and not sure if I’d feel comfortable pulling back on a bow. I’m not sure if the internet is the right place to try and find justification in getting g the permit but let me know your opinion. Thanks

I think whatever gets you in the woods and puts meat in the freezer is just fine. I'd be more worried about getting a deer out of the woods.

Well, the fact that you ask tells me you are conflicted big time. I made a promise to myself. If and when I can't pull the weight I want on a bow I will start lowering the pounds. Hell I have gone from 70+ to 60 and not because I had to. My point is, you can kill deer all day long with 40 lb pull and limit your distance. I will do just that until I hang it all up. You have to ask yourself, is the kill more important then the how? It's a personal choice and there is no wrong answer. For me, the how is more important. Pulling 40-50 lbs on the modern bow is very easy and smooth. If you love vertical bowhunting, try this first before you go with the Xbow.

It's not a one and done thing. Get the permit and go hunting. Keep working with your bow in the meantime. Once you feel comfortable to hunt with it again, drop the crossbow. Enjoy the outdoors for what it is and don't worry about what others will think of your weapon choice.

I echo all the members on this thread. Hunting is a passion, do whatever you have to so that you may enjoy it as long as you can.

PS bring back pics once you crush one with it
