I wish someone would respond because I've been looking at mics too!! I don't know if I should spend more for a Rode or spend less and get an Audio Technica Pro-24??

I have no idea of the true differences between the high dollar and low cost ones yet. I picked up an XLR mic on amazon a few months back for $40 that works great on my XA10.

Heres a Rode at 99 bucks. BH Photo or amazon are best places to buy from i think. It's the same one I have and paid 150 for. I can tell you that the difference between this mic and the azden sgm at $170 is night and day. Rode is the only way to go and in this case it's cheaper. Rode just came out with a "smartlav" mic.. its like a wireless mic system.. only it plugs into your phone, records to an app, and you transfer file from smartphone to computer and its only $60. I have an azden wireless system with external recorder that ran me about $400 total.. maybe more.. that i use for weddings or when im hunting with a camera man or running camera... but for self filming and doing studio shots, I prefer the smartlav! Less headaches for sure.

I've been looking at those mics as well. I'll probably end up buying the Videomic GO for my T3i (not compatible with the S100). The SmartLav looks pretty sweet too.

I have a t3i and a 6d.. neither have great internal mics.. not many dslr's have good ones or audio controls for that matter... but that rode mic i have, definitely makes a difference to almost borderline broadcast quality if you set it up the best the camera will allow. worth every penny.

I was also looking at the Azden SMX-10, but I ended up pulling the trigger on a Audio Technica Pro-24, good mic for a good price. Def check it out if you haven't gotten one yet.

I just might have to. I have an Azden SGM-DSLR and that Rode from above.. Not sure what kind of tricks I'm going to pull for audio/video up in the tree during archery season.. Look for some spring turkey action from me come mid may.. I got one up my sleeve for then.
