I would have to think about it a long time but at theis moment I'd say the 200'incher for the simple fact that you don't see very many of them if any in your lifetime I would hope that I could put my dad on the 110 inch the next day

Like others have said, I'd be shooting the giant unless I was the one that wounded the other buck.

Not I If this wounded buck Is part of the hunting party. This exact scenario happened to me 7 or so years ago. 150 Inch perfect 10 point at 15 yards for a good 5 minutes. He had no clue I was there. We were tracking a deer my brother had previously shot. 3 of us were spread out through the woods making one last effort at finding his deer In which we ended up getting.

The scenario the OP stated. That's a toughy. I can't answer that honestly but I'm thinking I'm shooting the big boy.

Look, I can sit here and say i'm going to be all just and take down the 110, but I'm dropping the 200" I'll leave the 110 to my neighbors, which if he's wounded, did it in the first place.

Big boy hands down but like Christine said I would do both pending tags. I am sure if you shoot the big one the wounded would stand for a minute after shot. Then you can tag both. Or the perfect shot would be one arrow two kill with them lined up just right! :moose:

What injured buck??? If i was in that situation, i honestly wouldn't see anything other than that 200" monster. I'd have blinders on hooked on him and him alone.

Well, I get two tags, so I'd shoot the big dude first and hope the cripple hangs out long enough to put him down.

I have seen other threads like this one before. I always wonder why people believe it is our duty to kill the wounded deer. I agree that allowing an animal to suffer is wrong but I don't agree that I should have to burn my tag to do it. Is'nt that why we have a DNR? I'll up the anti and ask: If you waited 4 years to draw a tag in Iowa and it cost you $650 would you still burn your tag? My answer to the original question is I would pound the big boy then call the DNR and tell them there is a wounded deer that needs to be put down.

I agree 100%, if it was in that bad of shape its a judgment call for me to do my duty. I am burning no tag. If I have to pay a fine then I would do it. Let your conscious be your guide

    200" buck.

I'm glad to see there aren't a bunch of "holier than thou" posts about not shooting the wounded buck.

I would be pretty upset to see a bunch of holier than thou post on here about this.
There is no right or wrong answer. What I am glad to see is the total honesty all you have had about it.
Anyone that says your wrong for taking the 200" buck adn not the wounded deer is just plain to opinionated.
This thread has really made me proud to be a member of this site.
