I have shot a lot of bows this year. Have a review of what I shot somewhere on here. The Impulse 34 was my favorite. For me the Halon is too short ATA and likes to wiggle when it rolls over. The Hoyt Defiants (30,34) were terrible on all counts except looks. The Impulse just draws really easy and was the most dead in my hand. Really want to get it but I've decided to spend the money on getting my own equipment to work on bows instead. Our local pro shop closed and not sure when the new one will actually happen. A bow will wait one more year. In the mean time I get to learn to really work on these things. Got all the arrow building stuff yesterday. Now to learn how to use it then to get a press and learn that as well.
Some of this bow gack is mechanical and measurable, some is personal and subjective. I shoot them all yearly and stick with Elite. I try not to be a fan boy of a brand because I am ultimately concerned with performance in my hands. It's been Elite for awhile now.
I just bought the no cam htx after shooting all the bows mentioned except the darton. I agree with the comments about elite. But imo the htx was better.
I really like the idea behind the No Cam. I was just hoping for something a bit more than simply dropping the brace height. Again, if I am going to shoot a 6 1/8" brace, it better be a bit faster than 326. Most folks who drop down to a sub 7" brace are doing so for speed. I can't think of any other reason to do so.
I thought the same thing as you and was not even going to shoot the bow. Ive only had bows with 7" bh before and didnt intend to drop down. That bow just felt really good to me and it changed my mind. I still get 280fps with my arrows out of this setup. We will see in the long run how I like it but for now its pretty sweet.
I'm excited in a lot a ways about the new shop. It will be nice to shoot all the leading bow manufacture's bows in the same shop. I am going to take a good hard look at Elite again once we have a local shop.
I have and still bought an elite. It all boils down to personal preference. Ford vs Chevy vs Dodge vs Toyota vs Nissan, everyone is different and has there own opinions.
I just hope they have good people in there. Will be nice to not have to drive to Lawrence or KC to shoot something besides Mathews though. That was always my biggest nock on B2. You could shoot anything as long as it was Mathews.
I've only shot the Elite Synergy 34. I thought it had a horrible draw cycle...absolutely horrible. After drawing it a couple of times I picked up my Heli-m and drew it back like butter. I did like the grip.
Prime example of "everyone's different" it's just awesome that there is such a variety of good bows out there to match everyone's body type and preferences. We definitely take it for granted. 25-30 years ago there were very few options.
Would love to but the nearest dealer is 160 miles away. Little far for me to drive. There are a few manufacturers that I have that issue with. You would think living in Kansas I would have my pick within an hour but that just isn't the case.
