Well, I'll have to try one. I think it will be hard pressed to pry my 101st outta my hand. Or more correctly, to pry the money outta my credit card... I shot the Hoyt Carbon Matrix last week. And while it was just fine, there was nothing about it that said "I really need to part with over $1600 to have one."
Very true. I have to catch myself sometimes with wanting to buy the latest and greatest. I just bought a fairly top end bow last year (my 101st), then sold it for half what I paid for it (talk about depreciation), and it did everything I wanted just fine. Toys sure are fun, though:D
I would be skeptical of a review from two well-known BowTech fanboys if they didn't mirror the sentiments of just about everyone that has shot one. Even those that thought they would not like the bow had the same views. I don't get too excited about new bows anymore because I've been let down too many times, but I have to admit I am looking forward to getting and shooting this bow. Good review guys, I can't wait to shoot it myself. BTW Ben, you may want to crop that photo next time.
Don't think I didn't think about it, but what I am if not entertaining. Damn lids on the bottles, they come just the tiniest bit loose and they are leaking like crazy. I won't complain, I got a great baby, you can ask Rob, he barely made a peep. (It's nearly an hour one way to the shop) Either he's gonna be a tear as a little boy or the next one will be hell. Back to business Bry, I can understand your skepticism, but I think you will be very pleased with this latest offering.
Rob back it out two screws and add 50 grain to your arrow, just curious. My monster is last years just like to know. I dont have a BT shop around here, not one I deal with any way.
Miller's....yeah I am a jerk and didn't call ya, but it was pretty spur of the moment. We got there at 7:30 on Friday and they stayed open till almost 9 for us to mess around.
Reviews on bows in general are pretty useless...........fanboys or not. I mean seriously, we have been reading the same stupid garbage about the new bows EVERY year the new crop hits the shelves. "This is the quietest bow I have ever shot" "Draws smooth as butter........70 felt like 60......solid wall etc." "This thing has NO handshock.....dead at the shot, didn't know it went off" "She is FAST--FAST--FAST!!!!!!!!" I don't think a shop exists that won't let you shoot the bow yourself so really what other people think, feel, and see doesn't really matter since everyone gets to experience it first hand anyways and decide for themselves. Having said that..........I certainly didn't expect Rob or Ben to say anything negative about the bow.........not because they are fanboys but because nearly all the people that have shot this bow seem to be pretty happy with it. Honestly..........being a long time Patriot owner the Destroyer has my attention to say the least. It looks like everything I love about my Patriot in a modern package. Unless this bow is a shocking disappointment when I shoot it I will have one soon. Seriously though...................is there any better bow review then a dude standing at full draw with a wet crotch?? I can't wait to shoot this thing............I will bring a change of pants.
Stopped in and shot one at Geauga bow yesterday. Bare bow i was punchin centers at 15, blank baling. it points that naturally. we got more speed out of it, with 63 lbs , 28" draw and just a whisker biscuit and 12" octane. Lightspeed 340 arrows at 377 grains, 330 and 331 fps. I have shot alot of bows, and for now i will say this thing is head and shoulders above, but i need to spend some more time with it
A lot of people don't know this. But, if you do a cycle of P90X, you can get an additional 9fps out of this bow.
Very nice. It all mirrors what I'm reading all over the web on this bow. Thanks everyone. (well, almost).
Good review Rob (and Ben). It sounds like they might have it right with this one. I'll be interested to see what people say once they have them in hand, and use them for a while. Question for you guys....what do you think about that flex guard? Think it will hold up? Bowtech's have been famous for no cable clearance in the past....will this make things worse, or have they worked out that issue? I know on my '08 Ally, my blazers used to hit the cables until I put on an '09 cable slide. Curious about this new setup. LOL Atlas! I hear what you are saying on most reviews. You are right that every year everyone claims the new bows are the best possible bow ever, miles ahead of last year (on all manf's). And typically less than a year later - that same "best bow ever made" is junk. I don't see a ton of real change anymore really, but this one looks like they are on to something. Much better than last years rollout (to me). If they end up being as good as they appear they might, I'll probably wait till 2011 bows come out and buy one for $450 new :D
There has been well over 200,000 test shots fire from the test bows thus far with a single issue. No one will ever where out the flex guard and as for clearance, it was one of the first questions I asked in our Corp emailings and I was reassured that you can shoot the biggest diameter arrow with Blazers cock vane up and have NO clearance issues. When I shot this 340, I understood why. The cables don't even come into the sight picutre.
