Got up at 5 and made it halfway to my stand before I decided it was too windy to even be in a tree! So I went back home and had a nap. Then I went to my archery shop in Okmulgee, Ok., Pat's Archery. I started out shooting the new BT Admiral. While I must confess to be taken with bow already, it did not let my expectations down. All their bows are set at 29" 60#. The Admiral is super sweet, I can't see myself resting until one takes it's place in my hands! I was shooting with a prong style rest, various arrows, and a release. It may be the smoothest drawing and shooting bow I've ever shot. In all fairness the new Hoyt Alphamax is probly just as sweet but I went there really wanting the Admiral to perform. This was the first bow I ever shot with a string suppressor on it, I loved it. The only sound I could hear from the bow was the arrow making a slight swishing noise as it shot along the prongs. Super quiet and very dead after the shot. I had to look at my hand to see if it was still there! LOL! I also shot a Captain, a SWAT and a couple of last years bows from Bowtech. (82nd. and 101st.) Like I said the Admiral went completely dead at the shot, I could not feel any forward motion from the string hitting the suppressor like I could on most of the bows. All the Bowtechs shot extremely well I thought. What really surprised me is how well behaved the 82nd AB was. I expected a little more "excitement?" shooting this bow but it was almost as well behaved as the Admiral! If it wasn't 36" ATA I would seriously consider getting one of these instead! The Captain and SWAT were both sweet shootin well behaved bows, I could feel just the slightest rotation of the bottom cam away from me at the shot but not that noticeable. I then shot the 32" Alphamax Hoyt and it is one sweet shootin bow also. The only thing I really noticed about it that I didn't like is that is feels just a hair more bulky in the hand (and to the eye) than the Admiral. It was a very sweet shooting bow though. I think if you just flipped a coin or picked the one you liked the looks of the best you would be well served by either! Next I was asked how I like Mathews bows. I told him I was not that impressed with 1 cam bows but I didn't have anything against them. He said "you will if you shoot this one." I can't say which model it was but it was very skinny and had a fairly long very reflexed riser. I felt pretty good in the hand but was fairly hard to get the cam to turn over. (I'm sensitive to this because of arthritis in my shoulder). Upon release I felt a lot of shock, more than I've felt shooting any bow in a while. I shoot with a pretty open hand and had to grab the bow pretty quick to keep it from jumping out of my hand. It also torqued pretty badly with the bottom came twisting to the right and away from me with the bottom actually moving out and to the left. (It twisted to the right) I haven't shot many 1 cam bows and this is my first Mathews so I don't have anything to compare it to. Maybe it wasn't set-up right but these guys are usually extremely good at settin up bows so??? The next bow I shot was a new PSE, don't remember the model but it was rated at 342 fps and was very short! Not their fastest model but still pretty fast. I did not like shooting this bow. The cams were so aggresive that it hurt my shoulder pretty bad to shoot, not a bad thing for someone a little less long in the tooth probly! LOL! That was the only thing I didn't like about it other than the red and white string which really stood out on this bow. A PSE rep was showing it to me and he said they all were coming out this way, he thought it was kinda wierd for hunting bow also. It shot really well, didn't experience any hand shock and it died pretty well also. (It had a string suppressor on it also.) Don't remember the ATA but it was very short looking, wished I had checked now. We shot it over the chrony and it hit 300 and 299 every shot. Don't know the weight of the arrow but it was probly in the 350 to 375 gr. range. One last thing, the PSE rep's bow was laying on the couch and one o

Oh yeah, for you guys in driving range of Okmulgee there's a pretty good sale going on. Don't remember all the prices but a lot of 2008 bows had $100.00 off on them! I know he had an 82nd and 101st AB bow at this price. lp
