This is a follow up to my prior thread a few days ago about wanting to get a new bow.

Been shooting my Matthews MQ1 for 12 yrs. This a.m. I went to the local pro shop and met with the owner of Wilcox Bait and Tackle in VA. Really nice guy, took a lot of time with me and no pressure to hurry up or pushy about any particular bow or equipment...great experience. If I get a bow it will be from him.

Shot 6 bows including Mathews z7 extreme, Mathews Mission Endeavor 2, Mathews Drenalin, a Hoyt and a Bowtech. Can't remember the Hoyt or Bowtech models sorry, they were very nice but just not my favorite.

I pretty much loved the Mathews Mission and the z7 extreme. Smooth and easy IMO. I don't know if the z7 is worth another 400 bucks vs Mission but it seemed very smooth IMO and quiet.

Really wanted to try the ez7 but the shop owner called Mathews while I was there and told me it would be another 8 weeks before he got one in stock for anyone interested.

Tough decision...Mission was 400 bucks less and shot fine, z7 ext sweet bow...worth 850...I don't know...or wait 2 months for an ez7 to come in to try...prob 950.

    Any thoughts from the gallery.....:fro:

    Whats your personality like?

If you shoot a Mathews, you will have to put 3-4 Mathews decals on your truck and own at least the same number of shirts. You must wear these shirts anytime you attend something that remotely relates to archery or hunting. You will also have to be blind to the fact that other bow makers build nice bows. Its Mathews or nuthin! The rest are losers and must look down at them.

If you shoot a Bowtech, you have to think you are a rebel. You know other bow makers make a nice bow, except Mathews and their outdated technology. Solo cams are for morons that don't know any better. Even though Mathews shooters are kind of lame and think they are cool, you know they're not. You are cool.

If you shoot a Hoyt, then looks don't matter to you. You want something functional...blue collar, even if its ugly. You can pretend its not ugly because you learned to love it. You don't care what an outsider thinks. She's purdy to you.

    What fits you?

Gee, I wonder what you shoot. LOL :busted:

That is pretty funny and sadly somewhat true though.

Back to Radiater's questions. You said in your other post that you like to buy the best and obviously you keep your bows for a long time. If I were in your shoes I would buy the Z7 Extreme or EZ7 if that is what you like. If you settle you'll find yourself nit picking and wanting something new sooner. That's just me though.

Yeah your probably right but as I get older, I find I'm getting more practical or is it cheaper.:lmao:. That Mission bow is looking better and better and the advertised bow speed vs the ez7 is not that much different. Based on how I remember it the z7 did seem noticeably smoother but not by a whole lot at least to me anyway.

Besides I doubt the deer will ask me what I'm shooting and pose for the shot...

had a buddy (D34) buy the Mission first, used it for a season (killed two deer) then sold it to his brother. bought a Z7 and loves it. but he says he wishes he woulda kept the Mission for a back up bow. everything that i saw/heard about it was good things. if you cant justify shelling out the $800 for the Z7 then dont and im more than sure you'll be happy with the Mission. like you said the deer dont know the difference! i shoot the Switchback and have a Z7 that i havent rigged up yet, but love the bow! hard to go wrong now-a-days with all the great stuff on the market.

Shoot as many different bows as you can, you may find that there is something equally nice in a leftover and be able to pick it up with some MAJOR savings. Find something you really like, and you may also be able to pick it up used. A lot of guys like the LATEST AND GREATEST, and sell bows every year at bargain prices, and you can be there to get that bargain. I've picked up $750 and $800 bows that were less than a year old under $500 more than a few times.... Several were resold, a couple still hang around here.
