So I still wear an arm guard when I shoot. Yesterday my brother was looking at my string and he told me he thinks that it is frayed below the loop because I hit my arm guard too much. This is theory only on our part since he no experience and I have very little. I know if I am doing this it will effect my shot etc. How do I correct this problem? I'm thinking of setting up a video camera to record me shooting and see what I'm doing.
Sounds like your draw length is to long. If it was the correct length you would have just a slight bend in your arm and you wouldn't be getting hit. I have thousands of shots with my bow and not once has it ever slapped my arm. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
hmm, I trusted the guys at BKIII in Wind Lake WI to measure me. I personally don't have enough experience to know that answer. I will say that when I was there I did not use an arm guard and didn't hit my arm one time. Maybe I will take it off and focus a little more. I like to use one when I hunt more because it keeps my coat tight against my arm and out of the way.
Is it actually hitting your armguard or is your string just frayed from shooting? Do you wax your string?
I agree with the draw lenght being a tad long,..My old bow used to hit my arm every other shot until we shortened the DL only half an inch. Just that short amount stopped me from locking my elbow which in turn had my forearm hitting the string. Worked for me anyway,..
It could be nothing more than an improper grip and turning your forearm into the string path, rather than out of the way. Here is the proper way to grip a bow. http://www.bowtube.com/media/6/get_a_grip/ Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I317 using Tapatalk
I don't hit my arm without the arm guard on so I'm thinking it is just frayed from shooting. I waxed it and I'm all good now. The fraying was on an old bow I gave my brother.
