I found this pic on shot placement. I think this best shows where the vitals are on a whitetail. The best shot is a little more forward than a lot of people think. Most think the shoulder bade is farther back than it really is. There is a lot of room for an arrow above the deers elbow as is shown in this cutaway view. You can hit inside the ribcage and still make a gut shot.
I'd like to see one where were looking down at the deer. Most people would benefit more from that being most are tree stand hunters.
Ummmm, I think the vitals stay in the same place regardless of where you shoot from.. JM, I thought it was a pretty good illustration. Move those vitals forward another 3" and that's where it is for a pig.
You know...I can look at this picture a million times but I always feel like I'm shooting to closely to the shoulder blade if I aim straight up from the leg. Guess it's like a mental block or something.
Sorry, I couldn't help myself... It was like a hot girl handing me a cold beer on an August day in Texas. An opportunity you just don't pass up. :D
Only someone from Boones Mill could make that kind of connection! And no, Steve's comment was far from a cold beer. :D
Heck, any girl would be hot on an August day it Texas, specially them 300 pounders...:D (just messed up your analogy huh) :p
