I shot my doe in the exact same position last year, the only difference was I was 20 ft up in a tree. This is where I would aim if I were shooting from the ground

This is an awesome topic. I am new to bow hunting and this really opened my eyes to the proper shot placement!

I'm not taking that shot. 1/4ing too far towards me IMO. I'd let him pass by and get a broadside or 1/4ing away shot.

On the ram, I'm shooting top of the crease right above the elbow-that's his sweet spot in this photo.

I'm with Jim on the deer....

    Lol...bad choice of words.

Let me rephrase; I look forward to sharing the meat from the yak I shot with the guys coming to hunt elk in Colorado.

That's hilarious! I should've caught that too Greg.

Edit: I look forward to this thread every year right before season.

LOL I am sure it tastes well. I just dont see many animals in my show room. The number one that I dont see in my show room is a Boar! They are so ugly and would never mount one!

That would be NO squirrels but some nice sheds that could go on the wall where I could take out the squirrels! :D

I do want to mount this odd colored squirrel if I can ever find him in season. He seems to only come around when it is not squirrel season. So one of these days I will get him. I know where his nest is and everything about him since he bothers me all the time in my stand!

Would anyone take this shot? If so where would you place it?

I'm not taking that shot. Too many things could go wrong.

I agree with a lot can go wrong! My biggest buck gave me this shot but other side and I took it. I ended up spine shooting him and he is now on my wall! Here he is!

Even with a heavy arrow with plenty of forward momentum, I'd wait for a better shot on the buck. It would crush me knowing I simply wounded something as majestic as that deer.

Dont get me wrong I do not want that shot at all but when I shot my big boy. The only other buck that I have ever shot was a 5 pointer. This guy spotted me in the tree so it was either shoot or he was gone. Knowing that that was a chance at a big boy I took it and it worked out. Thankful for that for sure!
