So I was having a discussion with co-workers today about where to hit a pig with a bow. I personally like aiming just behind from front "elbows", right about heart level. However, a few of them said to only shoot behind the shoulder while quartering away, another said hit the shoulder and the last one said broadside behind the shoulder halfway down the body.

So what say you? Where is your favorite spot to aim when hunting those big, delicious pork loins on four legs?

Barely quartering away, just below mid line, right above the elbow. Makes for a simple blood trail. Halfway down the body only if I want my arrow to smell like hog crap.

A hogs vitals are further forward and lower then on a deer... A good quality fixed blade will allow for broadside shots however slightly quartering on large hogs is preferable..

BTW.... lots of good images online..

big boars have a "shield" of thicker hide that protects their shoulders. my preferred shots on big boars is slight quartering away low around the elbow. smaller hogs and sows, broadside is not an issue.
