Just me Finch, but I would be searching towards that Pond to the North in case he backtracked. Also the river to the SE. Good Luck. I know the feeling.

    What color blood was it?

Dan (Jaws) shot one that hit just a bit forward on a quartering away show I think 3 years ago, and he bled like a stuck pig. We finally caught up to him 2 days later with a tracking dog, and he was still alive and ran off very healthy. Judging by the amount of blood, this deer should of died, but he just didn't. Turned out that we think it was a pretty good muscle hit and maybe a little bit of a single lung, but he never died to our knowledge.

Bright red....shouldn't this buck me dead with 9" of arrow still in him? Seems like I may have at least caught the top of one lung??

LAEqu....Yeah....I'll check those places out. Seems like he was heading behind that house though. Who knows...

Did Jaw's arrow pass thru or break off in the deer?

Muscle blood is usually bright red......hard to tell. I'd still get back after him if you can. You never know. Tomorrow if you can get out there early, climb to your best vantage point, and look for birds.

bright red sounds like a muscle hit, depends if the 9" is even in him or broke off and was thrown

The cow we found had been dead for at least a few days and we did not see one buzzard. I'm not going to put a lot of faith in that.

When you go back in the A.M. make sure you look for crows/buzzards circling up in the sky. That could really help you find him.

Thanks Jeff. I really do appreciate the offer. I'll cover more ground tomorrow and hopefully get some closure.

I'd also walk that entire shore of that river/pond to the east of where you shot him. Soooooo many times I've found them in the water or right on the edge.

Sorry you haven't found him yet. I agree that if 9" of arrow and the BH are still in him he should die. Good luck tomorrow.

Hey Donnie, make sure that you check close to the POI. I can't tell you how many times I've seen a deer go several hundred yards only to return to the area it was shot and die. Just saying don't overlook that area. Good luck tomorrow.

Donnie, do you have a gps? If you do, it could help you see where you may not have checked. I really hope you find him.

I'm thinking he may have even run all the way to the water---check the entire perimeter of the water if you can. Also, do you know where he beds or where you may have seen him in the past...that might clue you in.....GOOD luck
