at the St. Louis Boat and Sports Show. For those of you that have never shot a pop-up shoot, it is nerve wracking. I have never been so nervous shooting my bow before. A couple of times it was hard to get my release clipped on my loop. And those pins do a lot of dancing on the target. Yesterday and today are the qualifying rounds. And Sunday will be the finals. You can shoot alone on the stand during qualyfing, but during the elimination rounds you shoot the targets at the same time as your opponent. The better score moves on. They have 6 targets of which you shoot 5 per round. My best round so far is a 54 and the next best is 43 giving me a total of 97. You keep your best 2 rounds for your total. Right now I am in 4 place with the top score being 102. I am going to try to better my low round today and move up in the standings. Oh and by the way first place is a 7 day elk hunt out West. Those pins will really be dancing around if you make the final shootoff for that hunt.
Holy cow! That's one heck of a prize! You're not doing too bad at all Jim! Good shooting and good luck with the rest of the tournament!
I shot the pop-up at the Deer Classic in Collinsville last night. I was a little more prepared than most because my local pro shop (North American Outfitters) runs a pop-up of league that I have been shooting in for the last three years. However, it is still very nerve wracking as I am not use to have so many people standing there watching you shoot. I shot a 95, high score of the night was a 101. They are giving away a Cananda Bear hunt at the Collinville show. As nerve wracking as it is, it is super fun to shoot pop-up. I wish there were more opportunities to do it in our area. I heard that Tim-Buck-Tu has purchased a system. Do you know if they are planning on running leagues off of it or supposoring some more tounements?
Congrats John. Nice shooting. Good luck in the later rounds and wipe that low score out man. I have a hard enough time staying steady on non-moving 3-D targets, let alone the ones that pop up. That is a pretty incredible prize and I think I remember you mentioning in the past you wanted to head back out West to Elk hunt?!? :D
Nice work JM. I tried shooting pop-up once... I'd have to get better at it if I tried it again. Where's the elk hunt? If it's units 27 or 1 here in AZ, you're in for a treat.
Good luck John boy, I hope you qualify and WIN that elk hunt Pop up is something i have always wanted to try. Never have heard of any in my area, but then again there is not much of anything in my area
I upped my score to 100 today. The top score is 108 with the top 16 going to the finals at 2:00 on Sunday. I'm in the middle of the top 16 right now. I think I'd have to get really lucky to win the hunt, but they do have a bunch of other prizes too. Kickin, they are going to run leagues and do other shoots with their system. How are you doing in the Collinsville shoot? Paul and a bunch of guys from over there came and shot ours after it closed up across the river.
I just shot the one time. I knew I would not be able to shoot the finals on Sunday, so there was not any reason to pay to up my score. The high score on the open side was a 110 and a 114 on the bowhunter side when the show closed last night. Good luck shooting today, who knows you might be on your way to an awesome elk hunt!
Sounds like fun....I've never shot one of those either.....Good luck buddy!! You've got skills enough to take it home...
Never shot one either....sounds like a blast. Good luck bud. Keep us posted on your progress. Sure would be a sweet prize to win.
Got knocked out in the first elimination round, 97 to 93 I think it was. A guy that drove up from Arkansas to shoot in it one the elk hunt. He was GOOD.
Was the guy from Arkansas an Alpine shooter? I believe the guy that won the shoot at the deer show was alway from Arkansas. That would be amazing if he pulled a double off. An elk hunt and a bear hunt, that would be one great weekend.
