i got in my ground blind about 3:15 and didnt see or hear anything until 5 mins til 6, a doe started blowing about 70 80 yds in front of me but i never saw her, so i figured i was screwed and started to leave. but i decided i would sit it out.at 6:10 i saw a deer comin, it was a pretty good sized doe at about 12 or 13 yds, i drew back and was just a bout to pull the trigger when she looked back toward where she came from, so i figured maybe a buck was comin... wrong just another doe so i drew back again and shot the first deer, it looked like a pretty good hit. so i waited a lil bit and got out of the blind, couldnt find blood or my arrow so i started walkin the way she ran and found frothy pink blood for about 50 or 60 yds then no more blood? so i went back to where i shot her at and managed to find my arrow and there was no blood on it? from the look of the arrow it was a gut shot and maybe clipped a piece of 1 lung. so when i saw that i backed out and figured it would be best to go back in the morning and try to find her. would yall have went about it differently or did i do the right thing? thanks!

They can run a long way with a one lung shot! don't give up too quick. They will normally die from that. Well, I've never heard of one living with one lung. you should find her.

IMO often when the blood trail suddenly stops it is because the hunter jumped the deer. If you went after her too quickly, you may have jumped her, thus what appears to be a lost trail. I've done this before and I hope to not do it again. You have to be especially careful with big bucks - they are tough and have a lot of blood and endurance. If you shoot a big buck give it extra time and then a couple more hours.

i just got back from lookin for her. i picked up the blood trail where i left off lastnight and found more good blood for 50 or 60 more yards then it quit again and i never found anymore. i walked the whole area and even took the dog but couldnt find her.
