Here is a map of where my buddy shot his deer. The white dot is the stand, yellow dot where we found the arrow, blue line is where he saw him run, and the red dot is where he found him. He didn't have any blood to go off of as the arrow didn't come out the otherside and broke off in him, he was just going off of fresh tracks where the dirt was torn up. He luckily found him as he was walking back to the stand 3 hours later to look for some new clues.

Just gave up for the day. Arthritic knee is swollen up and didn't think I was going to make it back to the house. My son is still out looking. We have covered all my property, his bedding area, and all the draws coming out of the bedding area. Neighbor kid said he'd walk the pasture which is about 3' tall grass. Really bummed right now.

I love the hindsight! Sure beats the heck out of peep sights any day. Took me just a split second to draw the bow and be sighted in. Wish I would have had one of these years ago.

That much penetration, I would think that deer would be dead. Can you use a dog?

We covered all of my property, the neighbor to the west's property (where we found the broken arrow). I worked the property lines to the north and east. All I can figure is he went south into the corn. Wonder if a dead deer can plug up a combine?

BC, I hate it to a degree that is unfathomable. But I have learned even w/a solid shot there are no guarantees. Went back out tonight and had 2 young 8 pointers come in and there was a bigger boy on the other side of the hedgerow, but he didn't cross until all light was gone. Walking across the dam on the way back to the house I kicked up 6 - 8 does. Just got to keep at it.

Sorry to hear. Stay in the hunt is the best advise (not that you are looking any) that a man can give. You are right on about the shot placement, man.

    Good hunting.
