I got to take an opportunity to sneak over to the local outdoors shop, and shoot the couple bows bows that I'd been interested in, and came to the conclusion that I don't think I could fork out $1599 for a bow that really don't seem that much better than what I already have. It was disappointing, but I couldn't afford the Carbon Matrix anyhow. I think got my hands on a Maxxis 35, and in all honesty, I really couldn't tell much difference between it and the AM35's I'd shot several different times. So it looks like the AM35 still reigns as one of the nicest shooting bows I've shot to this point.

I agree with you 100% I thought the Maxxis was no better if even as good as the AM. I have yet to see a carbon matrix tho other than in pics but the price is ridiculus!!!

I'll probably get yelled at for this, but it's the truth...I have been a Hoyt shooter for years. The hoyt bows have always felt geat and fit me well. Last year I was due for a new bow after shooting a Hoyt Striker for years. I shot numerous big names out there including my Hoyt's. When all was said and done I went home with a PSE X-FORCE GX. and have never looked back!!! This bow fits me like a glove.
I'm not putting down Hoyt, but it just goes to show you need to shoot what feels right and that means even different models with in the same brand.

Suffering from "brand tunnel vision" is all too common these days. I'm not saying you can't be loyal to a brand (within reason). But to be pretend that your choice of manufacture is the only one making good bows is just plain stupid.

i shot mathews, hoyt, and pse when i went looking for my new bow and i went in thinking i was going to get a pse but i ended up coming out with the hoyt Maxxis 31 love that bow shot so smooth and the felt great in my hands. If you liked the Maxxis 35 give the Maxxis 31 a try

I actually like the Alphamax35 BETTER than the Maxxis35. Still pretty similar, but the AM35 just felt a little better on the hold and draw to me personally.

Then now you know that the Maxxis isnt for you its all about shooting different bows everyone has a different preference so its good to have options. I felt a huge difference between the Maxxis 31 and 35 when i shot them i like the shorter brace height feel like i can maneuver better in the treestand with it. Did you end up with the Alphamax35?

Doug anything will feel better than that Trykon.:) Back in '06 when i bought one it felt real nice compared to the others I shot. It amazes me how bows can change year to year.

This is a little something I heard...Not sure how much truth there is to it, but it makes sense and no I'm not bashing Hoyts just making a statement. Last year I heard there were issues with the Alphamax 32 and 35 limbs. I called Hoyt and asked about this. I was answered in a round about way by them saying there were some issues. I in turn said that concerned me and the next comment they made was...Can you wait for the 2010 models to come out. What I'm trying to say is there are improvements to Maxxis bows you may not see among some smaller obvious ones. That's why you may not notice a big difference. There were improvements made to the limbs from what I here.
