Depends on the time of year. I take a complete break from archery after the bowhunting season is over. Then after a couple of months, I start shooting once about every 2 or 3 weeks for awhile on the weekends. This is also when I overhaul my bow and string if need be. Anything worn or broken gets replaced. As the season again approaches, I will go to the range every weekend, either on Saturday or Sunday after church, seldom missing a weekend. When the season is about 1 month away, I go to the range 2 or 3 times a week. As the season gets really close, I go to the range every day after work whenever I can. For the week before opening day, I go twice a day -- at lunch and after work.
i shoot year round. During the season just a few 5-10 arrow sessions a week to keep form and confidence up. During the off season I shoot more; probably somehwere between 125-150 shots per week.
End of the season - March I shoot very little. Partially because my drive is gone, and partially because I shoot outside and it's cold. Once spring rolls around I'm usually good for 2-3 times a week. I'd like to shoot more in the summer, but it's too dang busy and there are a lot of guests walking around. It's just hard to get it done.
Three to four times a week this time of year...more if I could. As the season nears, the more I shoot. Come on October!!!
During the winter months none but once June rolls around I'll take my recurve out a couple times a week and sometimes more.
Summer through the Season a few times a week. Winter I don't shoot at all unless I go to a indoor 3D for giggles.
Thanks every one! In the past, I have been one of the guys who drags the bow out about 3 weeks before the season, and shoots until the season starts, and then not much once the season starts. I live in a town where I cant legally shoot the bow, and the closest range is over an hour away. But this year I got a new bow, and I have a place at work where I can shoot, so I took my targets to work along with my bow, and am going to shoot every day durring my lunch hour.
I shoot 3-4 times a week now and everyday the last 30 days before Hunting season starts here. (Sept. 8th) 83 days and counting......
Like many, I take a long break after the season. I try to shoot a round of 3D every weekend from June through the start of the season. I'd shoot daily if it were an option, but living in the city and working long, odd hours doesn't allow for it.
Being new to archery, I have been shooting twice a day, 4 days a week and once a day, 3 days a week. 20 to 30 shots per session. All sort of centers around my work schedule. Started 1st of march when I got my bow. Block target looking like a big brick of swiss cheeze.
I don't shoot much in Dec/Jan......It is ice fishing time. Feb/Mar shoot 3-4 time a week in basement (17yards). April - until season I shoot nearly every day. During season I shoot 40 arrows every other day or so. I have a routine with sitting/kneeling/treestand/running then sneak to shoot, mostly with broadheads. I like to sit awhile and then shoot. It's the first shot that counts.
Not enough but I need to change that asap. I don't think I realized how much I need to practice until I didn't pick up my bow for 3 weeks. Wow I sucked
