We'll see how this goes. Its been awhile and I expect to fatigue pretty quickly so wont be over doing it. My right elbow, I smashed it pretty hard and formed a large bonespur Even with the spur I kept playing volleyball and then golf. The golf is what did it, I swung a 3 wood in warm ups and felt and heard my elbow pop it hurt incredibly bad. I played the scramble that way but was really struggling. On the plus side it somehow fixed my slice. Went in and got it Xrayed after that then had to find the right time to have it fixed. I still wanted to hunt, but used the crossbow and wanted to ice fish some and had a couple work trips to get through. Got cut Jan 26, it got better then worse then that weird bone pain from when the grind down the bone. Have been hesitant but tonight's the night. I know I making a bigger deal out of this than it is but what can ya do? its all physically healed but the mental of drawing and holding the bow is stuck in slow gear.
so. interestingly this was also the first time I've shot my bow since I got glasses. Amazing how well you can shoot when you can see the target. I shot pretty well, should have known better to shoot this cheaper bag target I was shooting, barried a couple arrows all the way into the bag and screwed up the fletchings. Also got 3 of my 4 kids shooting this youth bow we have and fried up some walleye and crappie. It was a good night.
I shot for the first time since last fall yesterday. I’ve never been a good shot and have always dealt with “target panic”. Same thing happened yesterday. I can’t float the pin on the center target. I try going from up top I try going from down below. Just can’t do it. I’m a bad archer. Just have to keep shooting. Once my finger settles on my trigger I can’t just float the pin to the center target. So annoying. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
It is time to get the gear out and see where I’m at,been playing a ton of golf, won our member guest tournament. So wondering if that will help, the next eight weeks is kayak season so I’m looking for some rivers around Lexington and the Cumberland. Sent from my iPad using Bowhunting .com Forums
Glad to see you were able to shoot again. 2 years back my wedding band did me wrong on a set of hawk sticks. Degloved it but nothing broke so I got to keep my finger but ended up with a second surgery because I ended up tearing several ligaments in my hand 3 days before archery season. Lucky for me, my pop had an xcalibur that he would draw back for me. Took 2 deer (1 doe, 1 broken 10pt) and had a good season.
When I told my wife I wanted to get one of those silicone rings for hunting and fishing trips she didn't understand. Guess if I go ringless in the middle of the woods she won't think I'm trying to hide the fact that I'm married Growing up my dad taught Autobody repair at a Tech College and I never saw him wear a ring EVER until after he retired.
I only wear a silicone ring ever now. Whether lifting, work, hunting, anything… it ain’t worth losing a digit over. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I'm having a hard time attaching photos since my iPhone has everything as a "live" photo so it's downloading as a HEIC file (if anyone knows how to change to JPG, shoot me a message) but here's a couple photos of the original stitching from the day after the injury after they put it back together. A few weeks later is when I ruptured the ligaments in my palm so they ended up cutting almost down to my wrist to put everything back together.
I have tried to discuss this with my wife a couple of times. She acts like I am breaking her heart. I am not rejecting the ring, I am rejecting losing a finger wearing the ring.
These may change her mind. Again, gold wedding bad vs hawk climbing stick. I hopped off the last rung like I normally did and my ring caught it and I was just far enough from the ground that it degloved and tore all the ligaments but luckily not far enough that it completely took the finger. 3-4 months of therapy (3 days per week for 2 months) and I’ve luckily forgotten how much $. That is gruesome, sorry you had to go through that. I have just accepted the reality of not wearing my ring when I go hunting or workout.
