hey everyone im lookin for some opinions i recently dropped five lbs off my draw weight so it would be easier for me to shoot setting down in my stand but now i am aiming a lil high and it feels like i have to pull down to aim if that makes any sense to you i was thinking of ordering a heavier stabilizer any other suggestions
When shooting from an elevated position, you need to bend at the waist. I personally don't like shooting from a sitting position, because it constrains you from being able to move to make a shot. I just believe standing is the better option to pull off a shot when an animal is moving, or behind you. Your position is fixed if you're sitting. I've shot a lot of deer over my 30 some years of bowhunting, and only one was from a sitting position. The reason for that one, was because he snuck in on me, and I didn't want to try to stand, so I made the shot sitting. So anyway, that's just my two cents worth, and the only thing I can say, is if you want to shoot sitting down, than just keep practicing so you're prepared! Good luck this season!
Not sure how to fix your issue but also remember that when you let that arrow fly, the deer hears the string and starts it's squat to start hightailing it out of there. I was told a while to always shoot a little lower than you think because of this movement they make. The next show you watch on sportsmans channel etc... watch closely and you'll see it.
thanks guys i went back up in weight and it feels like that same ol bow again and think i going to keep standing up to shoot i noticed to many possibilities to mess up the shot if i sit down
I was going to say practice from that position....and depending on you tree stand height ..i have to aim lower when shooting over 20ft in the stand.
I shoot the same but don't like sitting either... I can turn easily when I am standing unless a deer is to my left in about a 20 degree arc and about 20 yards out. As far as deer ducking the arrow... I haven't seen that happen in a long time. Bows and arrows are so quiet these days compared to the older whistling broad-heads and loud bows.
Did you back the poundage off each limb. Sounds like your tiller was way off. Lowering poundage will also lengthen draw length a little which will change the feel. You need to twist the string to get some of it back. If you can't comfortably pull the bow while seated, you are pulling to much weight. I can shoot from a seated position just as proficiently as I can standing, best to be prepared for all scenarios when hunting. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I317 using Tapatalk
I missed a deer three times not bending at the waist. I was shooting from an elevated position 18 yards from the deer.
when i lowered the weight i took it to a bow shop thats not very far from my house to make sure everything was just right he noticed its something that im doing not the bow because i did it with a low weight mathews that he had at the shop (now i want a mathews)
