My synergy has 65# limbs. I back the limb bolt out about a quarter turn. I love the 65# limbs its my butter zone i can shoot as long as i want with very little fatigue.
I am fine with that if they replaced them with 80# Heck I am going to be 50 and my bow at over 70# is not a problem to draw and hold. I like shooting deer as hard as I can.
60 will work fine. I killed an elk with 59 this past fall. Seems like more people enjoy using less poundage. I've never pulled back more weight than that. I can hold this for a long time and that is important to me. No problem with guys shooting higher poundage either. Everyone's different. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I've been shooting 70lb bows for a long time now. I want to get a 60lb bow to use this upcoming fall. Nice smooth draw adds to the simplicity of it all for me.....plus my shoulders aren't getting any younger.
I shot a 60# htx & htr today. I really liked the htx but it sure felt like it was stiffer than the htr. So we put them both on the scale & the htr was at 59.8# & the htx was at 63.4#. So I think I'm gonna go with the 60#. Thanks for all the input!!
I don't shoot 70# but folks should be able to shoot what they want. Last thing we need are more arbitrary rules...
You can kill anything in NA with 60lb. Comes down to arrow and head. On whitetail you probably good with expandables and a heavyish arrow. If you want as you go bigger and tougher animals you can do a lot increase penetration. Heavier arrow, small diameter, cut on contact heads fixed heads.
The shop owner at the shop I frequent, kills pigs at 28.5/50lb with a fixed head religiously. People get to wrapped up on poundage.
I usually shoot 70lbs but I got my new BT-X in 60lbs and cranked it down to 63lbs and I can kill just about any animal with it. 428 grain arrow around 285-290fps
Yes they do. However I do know a guy that runs 27" draw at 50lb and pushes rage hypodermics. That's a little iffy in my book but he killed deer, hogs and goats with that set up. The 500 grain arrow he shoots I'm sure helps but it does seem like an odd setup to me.
I shot at 65 lbs for the past few mnths and just dropped it down to 60. I'm not as shakey and more accurate. I don't think that I'll go back up in weight until I'm a lot stronger.
After having both shoulders surgically repaired within the last 4 years, my most recent surgery last March, I can only draw 60lbs, and I must say I have had zero problems recovering the deer I have shot! The buck I lost this year was my own fault, bad shot and I pushed way to soon! 60#s I believe is enough bow! But, to each his own!
I've been shooting a 60lbs bow for the last 5 years and I won't switch to a 70. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G870A using Tapatalk
Thanks for all the input guys, but I found a Hoyt Nitrum Turbo on sale & picked it up. It wasn't a 60# though. I made the sacrifice & went with it 71#.
Yeah but it's pretty easy to pull at 71# & it's a thrill to send a 400gr arrow down range at 328fps. I guess I still got a little speed freak in me. When I sell my Chill R I'm gonna get a 60# HTX though.
