We were somewhere in St Marys but they are all over the bay....I am not familiar with the area where we were

I am looking forward to trying them....some folks love them
you cut the wings off and make "scallops" out of them
i heard you really have to doctor them up

Awesome! We were going to drive out there two years back and shoot with some friends. We ended up not being able to go but our friends did. They said the things were everywhere and they shot rays until they were too sore to shoot anymore. The got into a few monsters too. The big ones might have been southerns and not cownose tho'... can't remember.

Which guy are you? Did you use the floats much?

Mike, there are actually too many cownose rays, they are destroying the oyster beds.

Save an oyster... shoot a ray.

    :D

I am the guy with the red Overkill shirt on

Eric is the guy in the black shirt...he made the set up... It is a milk bottle with bowfishing string attatched to some kind of suction cup device on my stabilizer hole...
at the shot the string (which is wound around the bottle and kept tight with a rubber band) releases and if you connect....the bottle pops out and acts as a float...(I think it might be filled with foam???) then we chase it down and pull up and gaff!!!
Lotsa fun and yes....all the waterman were giving us a thumbs up and pointing us in the direction of where they saw finning of the rays...They hate them cuz they destroy shelfish....they migrate into the bay over a million at a time and comense to destroying the oyster beds!!!
