    I said dEck.

Would you, could you, is it hunting or just killing?

I woke up this morning and rolled over and looked out the window like I always do looking for anything, particularly deer down my shooting range. I often see doe walking amongst my deer targets curiously looking around. Well this morning, standing on my sand mound is a little buck... and behind him a dandy! I studied him and then grabbed the generic binos I keep on my window sill in the bathroom... ( many know my out my bathroom window pics and videos LOL ) ... and I glass him, he's a shooter buck in my neck of the woods, solid 8 with a 17/18 inch spread, good tines...

He would have offered me several shot opportunity from my deck... should I have, would you have... is it hunting?

    I didn't. I did however LOVE it. :-)

Damn right I would be slinging an arrow If he was with In my shooting range. I always wanted to shoot a deer In my yard. Chances of that happening where I live are about zero.

    Cool encounter Rob!!

It would be kind of neat to live in a place where I could shoot a deer from my porch. I can & have shot deer in my "yard" but it was the woods part 100-150 yds from my actual house. I don't know if I'd actually shoot one from the porch, I just don't know.

Several years back there were some nice bucks roaming around and my neighbor's cousin missed one shooting from the back door of my neighbors house.

I have been tempted to put a stalk on a doe using my neighbors pool as cover, but I didnt. That would have been funny though.

There was a picture going around a few years ago of an arrow going through a nice buck on a feeder with a mouth full of corn and a house, cars and the kids swing set in the background. Some people thought it was cool, I myself thought it was less than hunting.

I think you did the right thing Rob, Deer and Turkeys are off limits in our yard.

Considering my best stand is less than 100 yards from my patio, I'd probably shoot. :)

Since my grandfather previously owned deer and I hand fed them, brushed them, and fed the fawns from a bottle, I don't think I could shoot a deer that's in my yard. I would kind of consider them a pet of sorts. Now the neighbors damn cat better stay away, because that thing I'd turn into a heaping pile of fur for constantly digging in my garden.

Here in RI there is a law that u can't shoot ur bow at an animal within 200 feet of a dwelling. So I would've passed but id prob be marking off 200 ft and trying to setup for him in the future. Lol

It would make for a great story and I heard of it happening with a gun, however, the story is a butter one from my archery perspective if it is done in the woods.

Sometimes I want to hunt deer and sometimes I want to shoot deer. All depends on which time it is if they are in my yard.

I have plenty of does and little bucks that show up in my back yard but if a buck like that came through I would have to release an arrow lol....I am lucky to see 1 maybe 2 bucks like that a year and that includes driving around so I am not going to let a buck like that just mess around in my back yard and not try to get a shot off....

Last year during gun season I came back from hunting on the back of my property and there was a shooter buck in my back yard and he never knew I walked up. With a loaded 270 and in full camo, I just walked in the house and made me some coffee haha

I havethe occasional mule deer show up on the 6 acres I live on. Technically, I am out of city limits and it would be legal, but practically, I have neighbors on all sides and it wouldn't be cool. We like them in the neighborhood and they are not very wild. So it would be a hollow victory even if it scored over 200".

Cool to see first thing in the morning, though.

I have a 120" min here. If a 120 came out from the porch, I'd prob pass. Now a 130+... Think I'm shootin!
