I've always used one eye to shoot a gun. For some reason I use both eyes open when I started shooting a bow last year. No one told me to do it, but I like it better since I'm used to it. Glad to hear I might be doing something right. I'll have to try closing one eye first and then opening.

I think I shoot with both eyes closed sometimes.

I have been shooting terrible this year... Discovered a slight peep adjustement issue after reading a post: Pin Holding Low. I realized my peep was a little off and I was scrunching my shoulders a little to line things up. Much better now.

Anyway, two eyes open for me for sure... when I can stay awake in my stand, that is.

Wow! That sounds a lot like what happens when you're shooting right handed but you're left eye dominant or vice-versa.

When I started shooting trad bows, I also learned to shoot pins with both eyes open. It feels normal now.

I still shoot almost all my guns one eye closed though.

no im right handed and right eye dominate. My problem was when i had one i closed i would pull off to look for my arrow thus throwing my accuracy off. After i switched over i could hold steady and relaxed with both eyes open and not jerk or move.

Sometimes I do, sometimes I don't and sometimes the off eye is partially open.

If i set up on my anchor point then open both eyes and set my pin on target I will hit 3 foot low left. I could adjust my sight, but I dont feel like I could shoot consistently without using the peep. My eyes are just screwy.

You maybe like me and not have a dominant eye. I shoot with both eyes open but I have to initially aim squinting my left eye to verify that I'm lining up with it.

Basically, which ever eye has the least interference intially is the one that takes charge for me.

I couldn't answer your poll. My answer was not one of the choices. I shoot with one eye open but only because I have to. I am left eye dominent but shoot right handed. I wish that I could but not possible. I have been working on changing my dominent eye by wearing an eye patch at work every night and whenever sitting around the house and it does seem to be helping but still right eye dominent.

So, pretty much if I am left eye dominant and a right hand shooter, I should probably stick to 1 eye open? I knew I was messed up.

I am right handed but my left eye is dominant so I have to keep it closed while shooting.

Only 1 eye as thats how I learned, however, I want to make the switch. That is a goal of mine for 2013.
