How many of y'all shoot with both eyes open? I was at a 3-D shoot the other day shooting my bow, when an old-timer came up to me and just started to give me advice about shooting. He told me when I draw back to use one eye to stable everything, then open both eyes to put the pin on your target. He said that you will see the target clear and the pins blurry. Which for one will let you see what your target(deer) will be doing and second of all it improves your shot. I was a bit iffy about opening both eyes because when I tried it, it felt weird to change the way I shoot after having shot for a while, but after a couple shots of doing it I found that my grouping was closer together and I could see my target better. I told my dad about it and he never heard of doing it, so I made him try it and he liked it better and started to shoot with both eyes open.

I am right handed but left eye dominant so I close my left eye to shoot. But he is correct you should shoot with both eyes open.

Yeah I was always taught to shoot both eyes opened. Never started with one then opened the other but will try that.

Ive always shot with 1 eye open, and with the season approaching quickly it might not be something I want to tinker with at this point. Perhaps I'll give this a try in the spring.

Definitely better. It's good to see the entire target rather than right where your pin is. It will serve you better

that's great if you are sighting with your dominant eye, but if you're a mixed-up hack like me (right eye dominant, left-handed bow) i don't think it will work. maybe i should try shooting righty, but i'm left handed and it just feels right.

GutOne, or anybody else, have you every tried switching, and if so, how did it go?

Definitely give it a try, at first I felt like my arrows weren't gonna hit were the blurry pins were, but they hit dead on. I like it a lot better. Let us know how you like it!

I am left eye dominant and shoot right handed. I used to shoot with my left eye closed until about three years ago and I tried open the second eye. It took awhile to get accustomed but eventually I found that I could keep the pin on target as long as the peep lined up right. My accuracy may suffer slightly, but as long as I can keep it in the kill zone out to forty I am just fine.

I have not tried switching. In my mind it's too late but that probably isn't true.

It is impossible for me to shoot with both eyes. If I open both eyes it throws my sight picture all screwy. I cant even see my peep.

I shoot with one eye closed. Tried the two-eyes-open thing and it gave me a headache. I found today while shooting in a virtual range that its important to have both eyes open while/if the animal is moving. I wish I could shoot with two eyes open because a lot can change outside of the periferal of the peep sight.

I can't see my peep sight either but if you have a good anchor point it should hit were you want it.

I tried changing from one eye to two eyes with a little test from 5 yards. I could focus the pin, but suddenly my arrows went 1 foot wide of my huge target bag even when aiming dead center. Not sure how you guys can do it but I'm glad I tried a short range test first.
