I've always shot my bow and guns right handed and am left eye domanant. I know this isn't the perfered method, but's it's just how I turned out? Anybody else shoot like this? I may pick-up something like the Peep Eliminator and add it to my bow to help correct this. Any other thoughts?
That's what I've been doing for years (closing my left eye). Lately, my target starting to get alittle fuzzy when I'm looking at it with just my right eye. Thought if I could leave both eyes open maybe it wouldn't look so fuzzy.
I'm left eye dominant but I've always shot right handed. I've talked to a several people that do this so I see nothing wrong with it. I would just do whatever is most comfortable.
I'm a righty w/ L eye dominance. This is what I do, bow, rifle. After doing this over the years, my eyes are nearly equal in dominance.
I'm likewise shoot a bow right-handed as my left shoulder was wrecked playing football in HS, I picked up shooting a bow right-handed, and have never looked back. I also close my left eye, but I've developed a "dual dominance" where I can shoot a pistol left or right handed and whichever hand has the pistol in it will determine my eye dominance. I'll never claim to be a GREAT archer, but I shoot decent enough to hit the target....MOST of the time.
Thanks for the reply's I guess it's more common than I thought. I guess, I'll stick with just closing my left eye. Although, some days it may look a whole lot like I had BOTH eyes closed.
I'm opposite. Lefty and right eye dominant, but I still shoot with both eyes open. Never had any problems either.
I'm left eye dominant, but RH. I shoot everything LH, including my bow. I switched from shooting RH for most of my short archery career at the advice of some well respected shooters. I must have a little cross dominance issue, however, because now when I'm shooting with both eyes open, my right eye occasionally tries to take over. Now I went from left eye shut, to right eye slightly squinting:D I'm happy with the switch aside from the lower availability of used equipment.
I did for years... didn't know there was another way.. Then one day I was reading a mag. article about eye dominance and did the ol' look thru your fingers in a loop thing and wa-la! 20yrs shootin left now. never looked back. Also found out I was born a lefty and nobody wanted me to be, so I always was made to use the right. My son is a lefty but shoots comfortably right handed..suspect he'll change as his eyes get older..
