So I'm at wally world at lunch today and check sporting goods and they have put out a lot of new stuff. Primos has an attractant out called Shinola Juice...says you spray it any were you want deer to come...a qt. size spray bottle is about 12 bucks so I bought a bottle. I stopped at the bottom that runs in front of my house on my drive way and got out and sprayed it around a utility pole and the surrounding grass. So I'll be able to watch it from my house and see if it works. Any way, after I spray it I come inside and try to look it up on the internet...nothing, not even at the Primos Home Page. Anyone ever heard of it ? SB
LOL!!!! Yeah yeah...Say what ya want...as I type this a fawn and two does are feeding around the pole. SB
X2 I like trying new things sometimes, but I have decided not to buy anymore of those attractants out of them all a bag of whole corn works better for me.
I bought an energy drink from Walmart once that came from a company I'd never heard of before or since. It came in a 20 oz. bottle with three servings and warned not to ingest more than one serving a day. It was basically concentrated caffeine and sugar and it gave me the hershey squirts for three hours. Felt like I could lift a tractor though!
This whole thread reminds me of something my Grandpap used to say to me when I would do something dumb. He would say, "Boy, you don't know $h!t from shinola!"
Never heard that saying before, but wonder if it's where the name of this concoction came from? If so... someone in marketing is probably laughing their arse off. I can hear it now: "We got someone to buy a bag of crap!" Don't take that as personal against you SB... I was just laughing at the thought of someone saying that back at the corporate office, LOL. We've ALL bought stuff like that...
You serious? Both my grandfather and my old man were huge fans of that saying. I even use it every now and again.
I think this Shinola juice ranks about midway in terms of bogus hunting products. I just looked up the amount of scents for sale on bh.com and there are 404.
Well, Chinola is the Dominican name for passion fruit. Maybe they were supposed to be in the juice aisle instead of sporting goods.
I think this is a great thread....I've been using the saying " you don't know sh!t from shinola" since I heard my grandaddy use it when I was about 3..... It is why I stopped and looked at it....the stuff smells like ground up corn cereal...not at all unpleasant and not overly strong....I'm in Fairfield County in SC....baiting is illegal...so my bet is it is geared toward the guys who are currently putting out corn....and spray this stuff around the corn to get the deer use to coming to that area...then when the season is here they will just use the spray.... I've got mineral licks behind my place and just went out this afternoon after work and set a trail camera on it...the lick has been there a week and it is getting used heavy.... Can't help but to get excited.... also bought me a tru-fire 3d thumb release today....never used one but like the idea of it not getting in the way... SB
My father did use the Shinola saying. Instead he loved to say, "he couldn't piss his way out of wet paper bag". Not sure how that adds to the thread. I guess I don't know sh... from shinola.
