Man, been a bit slow around the trad forum lately,

I kinda didnt do a very good job w/ my shelf rug when I first put it on. Now after about every 10 th arrow I am having to push it back down and flatten it out. Anyways my question is: Is there a better material to use out there for a shelf rug. Right now I have whatever the bear guys reccomend its a polyester of some sort and seems pretty low friction but what do I know. Anyways gonna be replacing it soon so any imput is apprciated.

Oh yea and if you list on, also list where to purchase it. Thanks.

I just use moleskin for mine. It's worked great for many, many years.

The fuzzy side of a Velcro strip ic commonly used. I have used it and it works just fine.

I still like to use Bear hair rug rests though. You can get them at 3Rivers amoung other places.

Thats what I have now Robert, but I just did a bad job of prepping the shelf before I put it on and there was alot of stuff that stuck to the adhesive, I have poor adhesion now.

For my recueves that I shoot off the rest (I prefer a Bear Flipper on most of my recurves) I use a "cushy" type rest like the one VA listed. I get it from Great Plains. You'll find that barge cement usually works better then the just the sticky surface provided. Also, I use leather for the side plate. For my longbows I use leather for both the side plate and rest.

I use the leather for my shelf material, I put double sided tape on and it works perfect. I hunted in the pouring rain and snowstorms without a problem! I didn't have good luck using the Barge cement, I'm sure it was operator error!

I have bear hair rest exactly like the one VA mentioned. It works just fine. I don't have anything spectacular to say about it, but is has never given me any kind of problem.
