My goodness, you put in 40 hours and notin, now your trippin over them, two thumbs up from the Crick Atta boy Scotty!!
5.5 hours today. Two dead heads and one shed. This shed completes a matched set. I picked the other side of this one up 400 yards due west. It was cast in a feeder creek going into the swamp. A young buck found in a multiflora rose thicket. Also, found in the same flora thicket. Check my Blog for details on this guy.
Nice find on the matched set. Those are always nice. Rough deal finding "Tank" dead. At least you know where this guy ended up and didn't just suspect him pulling a "disappearing" act like the rest of them. That multiflora rose turn you into a pin cushion yet?
Try out that full chainmail suit you bought in Predator last year. It might help shed off the stickers..... :D
An old 4 point side found in a travel corridor. This completes a match set to the other old 4 point side I found. I found this 200 yards from the other side. Heavy rodent damage. Picked up on the inside edge of the woods paralleling an out of service field. The main beam looks to have been busted off during velvet past the g2.
Fresh antler from this year found in an out of service field.... Although this one isn't a shed, it was busted off near the base. Close up. This is only the third antler I have ever found that was a break off. Found in an out of service field.
I know it isn't much of an update, but I have put in almost 30 hours since my last shed, so I am awfully proud of this little guy Found on public land inside a uncut corn field (only about 20 rows wide planted for "dove" hunting by the DNR).
I hate those long spells where you don't find anything.. the good part is when it ends and you find several in short time. Good dedication Scott.
That one is the 6th shed picture (the first pic after the group pic of IL sheds) on the first post. They don't even resemble each other :d Besides, that monster is still in Oklahoma with Da-Crew.
Great job Scott, theres a lot of guys that would have called it a season after 30 hours of not finding a bone. I've always felt the sheds are a bonus, no matter what, a guy always gets some quality scouting in when your out there.
Thanks. That is the nature of the beast here where I live with such small properties, going so long between sheds sometimes is part of the game. Crop rotation can be killer for shedding here, the deer are either wintering on your property or they are not. What is real tough is when you know where they are wintering (1/4 or 1/2 mile away for instance) but you are not allowed access to the property. During that 30 hours I covered 5 small chunks, no sheds and very little deer sign was found on those properties. Another couple weeks and our deer really start dispersing back to their summer range.
