Couldn't take it any longer and started walking earlier in the year in some new spots seeing if they would be worth my time this spring and managed to pick up a few. Up to five so far, four old and one fresh break. Image 1 - old spike Image 2 and 3 - old 2 point Image 4 - old 4 point Image 5 - old 4 point Image 6 and 7 - freshly broken 3 point
Thanks, hopefully I can keep up the pace. Last year was a record year so I wouldn't mind breaking that one.
Yeah, my back's still hurting lol That was a first for me for sure, I just got lucky with new spots so hopefully the bucks are still hanging out in those areas
Heard some fresh ones were found in VA today so I went out at lunch but only found 3 deadheads. One nice one that someone beat me to and cut the antlers off, a 3 pt with a lot of mass to be so young, and a nice 8 that would have been really nice next year.
Found number 7 today. It's a match to one I found last year but it was too green when I hit the area so I missed it. It's a match to one of the below but I won't know which until later this evening. All three are the same buck from two different years.
Finally reunited. I found 2 sheds off the same buck last year but one was fresh and one was a year old. Looks like the one I found yesterday is a match to the oldest shed so the fresher one is still out there somewhere. Jumped 6 deer, 5 of which were still packing really nice racks so hopefully I didn't blow it by hitting it too early but it does feel good to finally match up one of them. All 3 together. Looks like he is probably starting to go downhill but hopefully I will find at least one from him this year and see if that's the case
Walked quite a bit of ground but only found a deadhead. He was missing one side but it looked like he had been hit by a car and broke that side and part of his other brow tine off. I did see a single file line of 20 or so does that proceeded to walk across the trail 20 yards in front of me which was pretty cool.
