I can't put into words how much I think she saved herself by not going to Cincy. Awesome move! I have several friends that go to EKU and love it. After I finished up with undergrad work at WKU, Cincy was one of 3 grad schools I applied to. After touring the campus/facilities and seeing what the area of town around campus was like, I wrote an email declining my offer. Ghetto school, in a VERY ghetto area of town, with out of state tuition rates.... EKU was the smarter/safer/more fun choice!
She actually loved cinci's campus and how they work with freshman coming in. She hated UK's campus. The dance coach really wanted her to tryout there and gave her a video bye for tryouts at their camp. She told me she thinks she's really going to like EKU and i think she will as well. Dang colleges are getting expensive. You're happy with instate tuition. It's still going to cost you 18 grand for tuition/room and board. That's if she never ask daddy for an extra 100. LOL Here's the 2010 class breakdown. 3/2 girls... so she'll beable to get a date. LOL I've been to Cinn. EKU is definitely a safer enviornment.....if there is such a thing in todays world. Undergraduate Student Demographic Breakdown Total Undergraduate Students 14,396 Gender Women 8,185 57% Men 6,211 43% Race/Ethnicity American Indian / Alaskan Native 71 <1% Asian 132 1% African American / Black 825 6% Hispanic 247 2% Native Hawaiian/Other Pacific Islander 21 <1% White 12,517 87% Two or More Races 301 2% International 136 1% Race/Ethnicity Not Reported 146 1%
Its not costing me, its costing her. Of course there are extras that I am taking care of. Insurance, phone etc. Plus there are some expenses associated with dance team I'm sure I'll be picking up. Sent from my DROIDX using Tapatalk 2
Good Call. Brain lapse on my part as the medical campus is separate from the main undergrad campus. Cincinnati itself is still a rough city. If it were my daughter I'd be doing backflips with her choosing EKU over Cincy. Everyone of my friends who went to EKU loved it there. Very quick drive to Lexington if you want to be in a bigger city but Richmond retains the campus lifestyle where the city revolves around college life. Bigger cities don't have that. It's what makes places like Starksville, MS and Tuscaloosa, AL such awesome places to hang out as a college student.
Oh I am very happy she is going to EKU instead of cinci. I was down your way tonight watching my son play baseball against Ohio co. He's an 8th grader on the freshman team. Sent from my DROIDX using Tapatalk 2
