I have a massive pile of Spitfires lying in a box on my workbench that I've killed all sorts of critters with. Rather than tossing them all in the trash, I'd like to try rebuilding them and sharpening the blades to hunting status again.

Does anyone have recommendations for the best way to sharpen those tiny little blades?

I’m not sure about the dimensions of Spitfire blades, but I assume they’re similar in size to Grim Reaper blades. I’ve had good success sharpening Grim Reaper blades with my KME Broadhead Sharpenimg Kit.

I can get them sharper than they were straight out of the package.

@Justin if you ship them to me I'll outsource them to a friend of mine to sharpen on his KME Broadhead Sharpening Kit. He can ship them back to me and I'll inspect and return to him any which are not up to snuff (I'll take on that headache) and then get them back to you.

Each blade for a mere $5 a piece although should you have 10 or more blades I'll do for $4.98 a blade.

Hey Justin, there was an member on here, not sure of name. BTW, i bought a product he produced, called the STAY SHARP Broadhead sharpening kit. If you go on YT, he(Outdoor Innovations) has all sort of videos that he shows on how to sharpen using this tool.

I believe you mean everyone's favorite ex-member, Rancid Crabtree. The man who would start an argument in every post and then cry wolf like everyone was picking on him. Poor fella.

I wonder if he will give me an industry discount?

I don't know how you would order, or if this person/company is even around any longer, but this thing seemed like the best option I could find.

I too was hoping to find something for the Rage heads as they aren't really even sharp out of the package.

This would work but you would need to figure out a jig to extend the blade out farther which wouldn’t be hard. I have an older version and when I get some time I can try it out on some mech blades.
It would get them really sharp as long as the blade angle isn’t real flat. More like a 15 degree or higher.

I keep this one in my backpack to touch up my knives if needed. I have used it to touch fixed blades as well. It would probably work quite well on a mechanical assuming the the blades can be locked in the deployed position while sharpening. I screw my broadheads into a cut down arrow when I sharpen them on it.

They are removable. Last time I did it there was a small press pin that you knock out. Then had to press back in once you replace the blades. Not sure if they changed this to a screw or not. It was over 10 years since I did it.

Spitfires use a small screw to hold the blade and tension spring in place, so you can remove the blades if you wanted. They sell replacements for almost all the models except the XXX, which is what I shoot. Hence the need for a sharpener rather than the garbage.

I'm leaning towards the KME right now. Basically the same as the IO unit, just not owned by someone I had to ban from this forum multiple times.
