What things are you looking to accomplish this spring to improve your hunting land?

    1. Add a food plot
    2. Hinge Cutting and increase bedding areas
    3. Move some stands I know need to be moved.
    4. Brush in my box blind better.
    5. Scout for deer movements when there is snow still on the ground.
    6. Build a wood duck house for the pond.
    7. Build two more platforms with stairs to put a pop on blind on it.

    What about you?

    Plant some fruit trees.
    Plan corn-food plot transition better.

    Oh boy...here goes...

    **FINISH SCHOOL ON MARCH 23RD**

Then i can do whatever i want, up to and including...

    Clearing my 3 kill plots
Prepping my 2 large food plots
Planting above mentioned 5 food plots
    Establishing 3-4 productive mineral sites
    Create a wetland
    Begin a fruit orchard
    Plant 2 tree rows
    Tweak all my stand sites
    Fish, fish and fish.
    Kill a few gobblers.
Get my video production equipment/skills back up to par.

That should be good for spring....

If we can lease the farm adjacent to my parents cabin, ill do so and plant 3-4 acres of beans.

I only have a 2 week window to do so in late may though.

    Well…
    Homestead Property List
    • Hinge/Cut trees along both the Southern Road edge, Western neighbor edge and the entire Northern line.
    • Plant roughly 50 white pines, 12 leyland cypress, 10 persimmon, 5 sumac
    • Clear out space around old non-producing apple trees still living in the woods
o Graft new apple scions from various types onto the old apple trees
o Prune both trees to be grafted and those to not be grafted this year
    • Create at least 2-4 more micro beds
    • Cut more trails through the clear cut bedding area that is getting too thick.
    • Put in a culvert (with dirt path over) in the creek
    • Burry or create a watering hole of some kind
    • Open up canopy over plots more
    • Plant at minimum two summer food source plots in spring
    • Hinge cut our NW neighbor’s line which they approved for us to do along the neighbor’s everyone has troubles with.
o Plant 10-25 trees along this line for the landowner
    Swamp Property
    • Walk and memorize the specs of the 200 acre State owned wildlife refuge to the south of the property.
    • Transplant if owner allows over 40 baby cedar trees to Homestead Property.
    • Clear/Clean trails for the landowner
    • Plant some willows up in the tall canary grass bedding to thicken things up
    • Consider putting in a spring food plot planting on at least half of the ground plotted this past fall
    Other Properties
    • Scour the other two “potential” properties to determine use by deer
    • Locate and gain access to a parcel close to the home
    Misc…
    • Purchase and mount a new sight and rest.
    • Look into a new release
    • Purchase at minimum an MP6 Black and another Red 40 (hopefully a few more too!)
    • Build 5 in depth land plans for 5 “clients” which will hopefully have success and be the first of hopefully many more (someday for monetary kick back)
    • Work on bringing even more in depth resources, articles and videos on my site/blog
    • *Get my redneck bass boat (converted v-bottom) finally done and do some fishing!

    1. Clear an area for a new food plot for the fall.
    2. Finish an elevated blind made out of an old windmill.
    3. Plant the new food plot along with 2 others.
    4. Check to make sure all stands are safe and ready to use this fall.
