I've been looking at a spot that would make a great plot, about 30 yds wide and 500 yds long. Narrow ravine with lots of timber except through the bottom. Problem is the amount of shade it gets. All the trees basically shade out the bottom area. Does anyone know of a good plot that would grow on minimum sunlight? It now gets 3 4 hours direct light each day, but diffused light of coarse is longer. Plot runs North/South if that helps. This place would be a killer setup if I can get it going. Thanks in advance all.

I have a shady plot I planted with clover. Plant as soon as you can get in there before the canopy fills in to get it started. First year was just so-so but after that it has been good.

I also have a spot on my property that doesnt receive direct sunlight. Right now its a bit overgrown by thorn bushes and other useless plants so I plant on cutting those out, spraying the ground a bit tossing some fertilizer and some of this http://www.whitetailinstitute.com/products/noplow.html

I was going to suggest the whitetail institute site as well, they give you the information related to the minimum amount of sunlight needed for the product. You may also want to check out the new product they have for this year called Bowstand.

Yeah i was reading another post about that Bowstand. It looks pretty diverse. This will be my first plot in this area in which there is a ton of pine straw. This past year i just had corn out and a doe came in during the early season. Nibbled on corn for a bit then managed to find some greenery on a fence line in which she fed on for 30 minutes. so i figured id give it a try this year. any suggestions besides the Bowstand? Im looking something low maintenance because im graduating college this year and not sure how much time im going to be ale to spend in the field this coming season.
