So i bought a new z7 70# this is the easiest bow for me to pull back I have ever owned. My last bow was a PSE Stinger. Somehow I have managed to strain my Trapezius muscle. I believe it is from shooting my bow for 3-4 hours a day. Has anyone else had this problem? I know my bow is not to high a poundage. I can put this bow out in from of me and easily pull the string back smoothly and slowly. Compared to the PSE it actually feels like 40-50 pounds.
Thats way to much shooting in my opinion.I've read that if u sit in a chair and can't pull u'r bow back, the poundage is too high. I shoot maybe 3 times a week, one shot then wait an hour or better, then repeat. Too many lovers of the woodline push themselves to far.Why risk the injury? If u can't hold that poundage for one minute, its to high.
The poundage is not too high. I can sit, stand, kneel, pull it back and turn around. i just enjoy shooting it. I have been adjusting my sights and dialing them in is one reason I have been shooting so much. It is a new bow so I have been just trying to get comfy with it so I dont miss that giant. (IF I SEE ONE AT ALL)
with a strained muscle it won't matter if you see one since you will have difficulty shooting it anyways...slow it down, heal it up and get back to a more manageable routine...just my $0.02
I go out and shoot a couple arrows and if I'm nailing the bullseye right away then I just go back in, but if not then I shoot until I get my form right and am hitting good. I bet you would love it if that buck of the season walks by just to have a sharp pain go through your neck and not be able to shoot
I shoot 5 arrows a week but when I do it it matters like right after mowing the lawn I grab my bow and shoot 1 arrow.done for the day next time after taking the dogs running then I shoot 1 arrow see how close I am to the first arrow I do this all week at different times could be I just woke up or just ate dinner and so on most of the time my arrows are touching each other but after 5 arrows I pull them and start a new week.on the stan you generally get one chance that is what I practice for.
i've had problems in the past with my neck as well, mind is more from lifting, but did strain it once from shooting. if you can try or have someone else roll out your trap and work your/their way down into your lat almost under your shoulder blade. if you really wanna get freaky lay on a bench (inclined if you can) arms dangling try squeezing your shoulder blades together and hold. pretend you are pinching a penny in the middle of your back. that'll fire that muscle and hopfully release the knot/strain. once you got that down after the flex lift each arm up and out at 45 degree angle and hold...
