Hey all, I'm planning on buying a new bow in the next few weeks, planning on the Hoyt Charger, shot it and really like it. My main question revolves around the rest. I've shot whisker briskets in the passed but several of my buddies rave about the drop aways. Wondering on all your thoughts on the QAD fall away hunter vs the more expensive fall aways. I don't believe the hunter has the lock down technology the others do, but is there really any bounce that will effect the shot? So spend the extra money for the lock down or no? Thanks!

The hoyt charger is a great choice! Shoots as well as bows twice its price! Just replace the stock strings with some custom ones. I have the qad hunter and the only problem i've had was shelf slap from the lack of the lock down technology. I solved that with a little rubber pad on the shelf. I shot them both in the shop but I couldn't justify spending double the money on the HDX but if I had the means I might go for the patriot version to go with the red white and blue theme on my bow. If you have a shop that will let you, go try out a few of them like the trophy taker, NAP apache, and the more expensive QAD's. Good luck with the new bow!!

Edit- I shot the LD not the HDX.

I love my charger. Great bow for the price IMO.

As for the rest I have had a few issues but I'm not so sure they were necessarily the rests fault. Initially I was having clearance issues. The rest wasn't dropping quick enough. I had the timing cord adjusted and that fixed that issue.

Now the rest has developed a loud click when it comes up to the 90 position. I would compare the sound to the sound of clicking off a gun safety. I don't believe it is affecting performance of the rest but it is not good when you are coming to full draw on a big deer.

The click started after I made the adjustment to the timing cord so I am not sure if my adjustment caused the issue or if the rest just wore out because I do shoot quite a bit. With that said if the click isn't fixable I will be buying another QAD but one with a lifetime warranty.

I've had a QAD on a previous bow, I really liked it. When the NAP Apache came out I was switching from a hoyt avenger to a CRX32 and decided to give it a go, and the price was right. I just today, switched all of my components over from my CRX32 to my new Nitrum, I was contemplating buying the new HDX but just couldn't justify the extra cash when I had a perfectly working rest. Bolted on the Apache, paper tuned nearly perfect first shot, it took 4 shots to walk the sight up to the x at 20 yards and crushed x's for a half hour. Long story short, the QADs are a great rest from my experience and many highly regarded knowledgable opinions around here, but there are other options and for me wanting a camo colored rest would require the $150 HDX version. Check out the Apache if you haven't, you might like it.

I too am looking at the Charger, I have a shot a Whisker Biscuit on my old PSE for eight years and have had no trouble with it. The Charger I shot last week had a Ripcord Fall away on it. I also shot one with a standard whisker biscuit set up. I did not see enough of a speed difference between the two to justify a fall away, however the Ripcord was quiet. If it was my bow, I would stick with the whisker biscuit, because I am confident it. I would be more interested in switching out the sight to an adjustable single-pin. Unfortunately for me, the shop was out of 70lb Chargers while I was there or I would have bought it on the spot.

I really like this rest a lot. What's great is that you don't have to reset it after every shot. Simple and bombproof!

Thanks for all the thoughts, I think I'm getting the Apache, only question is has anyone actually had it on the charger or had the micro version on the charger? I just don't want to order it, and have it not fit on the bow?
