Serving Thread Question

Hey Guys,

Got a question today from a customer and I'm not 100% sure of the answer so I figured I would ask you guys, the experts!

Today my shipment arrived of a replacement bow cable for my Matthews Ovation.

The cable it's replacing has what looks like serving, in the middle of the bow, where the cable runs by a small spinning pulley type wheel. The cable that just arrived does not have that serving. Can I still us it effectively without serving in the middle area?

If it were me, I'd serve it. Can't hurt.

 

I would serve it where it contacts your roller guard.

 

My mathews has serving were it contacts the roller.

I would definitely put serving there. On my Diamond Marquis I can notice some wear on the serving from my roller guards so I'm sure it wouldn't be too nice on the string.
