Other than not seeing deer there, should I be concerned for my safety with this now showing up (first photo of one on our farm)? IMG_2477.png

I treat them the same way as I have 250 lb hogs running around in my area. Always pack a side piece just in case.

Does your state allow you to carry a hand gun while bow hunting? Do you have a hand gun? I wouldn't be overly concerned.

Neither would I. I've seen roughly 15 bears over the years, some while hunting upstate Pa, but mostly while wild trout fishing in Pa, and every single time I've encountered one they've run the opposite direction once they saw/smelled me. They almost always want nothing to do with a human.

When a sow is with her cubs she needs to be avoided. That would be about the only time one would possibly present a problem.

    What early in said.
I have never hunted where there wasn't black bears and cougars. My only scary encounter in the woods to date (40 years of hunting) was with a cow moose with a calf. Zero with bears or cats.

Hmm. Good idea not to bathe for two or three days before you hit the woods. Then they would run in the opposite direction?

No photos of him in several days. I assume he was just moving through…
