    Septic Issues....who's had em?

So I'm in the process of selling my house and the inspector found a leak in my drain field near a tree. The tank looks good, just have this leak in the drain field. What am I looking at?

When I bought this house the septic failed inspection. I had to pay 15K for a new system to be installed.

Hope you don't have to feel that kind of pain.

Me too. I'm already buying one for the new house, can't really handle two.

The tree root might have grown into your line and is causing problems. Is it the old clay pipe lines or the plastic perferated ones? You might need to move it away from the tree to get it clear of the roots. Or maybe just replace the section near the tree and whack off the tree roots.

That's what I'm hoping happened. Not sure what kind of pipe it is. I guess it's all up to the SEO in the area.

He saw a wetter spot with darker dirt next to a tree and sampled the soil.

Just because a root has grown into the pipe should not fail the hole system just get that section repaired and cut the tree down and put about a tone of dirt over it.. presto no more water at the surface.

In a note about the sewer patrol my wifes parents bought a house and paid for the place cash and did not have any inspection's done, there are pipes in the yard where there should be a drain field..... they are just pipes in the ground and nothing under them just dirt.
