Not being an admin I don't know for sure but I think the selling portion of this site is just out of the box feature or they do it as a courtesy for the members.

Being in business for 35 years, never trust anyone when it comes to payment. Get the cash in hand and then ship the product! Even people with the best intentions fall short on paying from time to time! Good Luck!

IMHO when it comes to Internet sales, the buyer is the one facing the most risk. The seller doesn't have to do anything till they have the cash in hand.

Using a payment system like PayPal also provides some recourse for fraud.

Definitely highlights that the seller has the advantage in the situation. I make it clear that I only ship after payment has cleared. Take lots of up close pictures of the items as you are packing before shipping and pay for insurance.

Sellers have the advantage because they get paid first. The buyer is the one with the most to loose.

Spend the extra to go thru paypal as was mentioned it protects the buyer and the seller, plus it is pretty easy.

That is a good way to do it. In my business dealing with farmers, I have seen everything under the sun for non payment on goods. But I got a first 2 years ago when a farmer gave me a fake personal check for $1,500 worth of seed. Fake bank routing number and fake bank account number. But since he was a new customer, and with all new customers, I take a picture of their license plate when they pick up their crop inputs. That is how we tracked him down.

But even though a dishonored or fake check over $1,000 is a felony in MN, he received no jail time after we went to court 5 times trying to get paid and throw this guy in jail. So no one should ever think they have any recourse do to our liberal court system we have in place!

I do agree it would be nice to have some metrics like ebay has for buy/sell.

On the other hand the buy/sell is more of a service offered v core to the forums/bow talk business...so take it with a grain of salt.

Sorry if i missed it but how much are you asking for your bow.

What defines a "good buyer"? I've never heard anyone say "seller beware"..... are you planning on sending a bow without payment to some stranger?

I would probably sell on AT. More people on there and they have the rating system. As a seller, theres not a whole lot of risk. As a buyer there is more but still not a lot as long as you request plenty of pictures so you know what you are getting. The biggest risk I see is with trades. Unless you are really confident with the other party, there is a lot of risk. Ive done it twice, once it worked perfectly trading releases, another time I got burned on a bow deal where the guy backed out after he said he already shipped (sent fake shipping info) and I already shipped. I had to pay 50 bucks (on top of original shipping) to get my bow back

Then use a site that offers all the bells and whistles. This is a hunting site that offers a place to buy and sell as a courtesy. Pay the fees and use ebay and paypal if you are nervous.
