Do you guys ever worry about failure in the field? I mean technically it is another moving part right? Any mechanical issues for y'all? Is there a life expectancy on these sights?

I know hha sight are made of mostly metal if not all so I wouldn't worry about it breaking. The gears are metal for sure and they would be tough to break imo. Just like anything I'm sure you could break it eventually but it would be tough I would think.

Take a look at Spot Hogg.

I shoot a Tommy Hogg but there are options.

There are some positives and negatives - in my mind at least.... Depending on what type of hunting you do, I think it depends on if its a good fit... I don't see myself going to a single pin for hunting just because of the way I hunt (on the ground a lot, animals walking, moving, etc).... For example, a guy I work with had an HHA single pin on his bow last season... He was hunting antelope, had one at 20 yards, so his sight was set, while he's at full draw it takes off and trots 20+ some odd yards away - he said it was really hard for him to guess where to hold. He ended up shooting just under the goat... He loves the sight for the most part, but he feels if he would have had his 5 pin black gold on (which is what he'll be hunting this year with), it would have been a dead goat... It seems like it introduces an extra variable that I just don't want to deal with when hunting (animal moving, moving the pin for say an elk setup and then forgetting to move it back, etc)... That's just my 2 cents, I know a lot of people swear by them - whatever works...

I like most of this. My POV and bias is a 3 pin moveable whatever the MFG. Why guess when you can range and Put the Pin on a spot and shoot. To play devils advocate here though and in all fairness if you practice with one pin you can get the same results. Personally I like to know I have a set pin out to 40 yards.

I hear you... And I think you're right in that the more you practice, the better off you'll be... One challenge at least in my mind, a slider single pin has almost an infinite number of hunting scenarios to practice... Pin set to 20 yards and goat runs to 37. I shoot at a coyote at 39 yards don't move my pin back and then have a buck walk right under my stand, I'm in the middle of an elk herd covered up with cows and am already clipped on expecting a close shot, then the bull skirts the end of the herd but gives me a perfect broadside shot at 45, etc etc... Just seems like more than I want to deal with... But again, to each their own...

You could keep pulling situations out of your butt all day. Go with a sight and practice with it simple as that. Even with multi pin sights you still need to practice on gapping and figure out where to hold, you could easily gap wrong and shoot under or over. Excuses can be made made on both sides. So like I said practice and know your equipment and it will be all good.

Yeah, I have my range finder clipped to my bino harness and in my pants pocket. What ever happens, I can range, let the range finder dangle to the side, clip on and come confidently to full draw out to 50 yards with my rig. Beyond that I can just add the step of adjusting the site prior to hooking on. I just know where I hunt I prefer not to be limited by both time and range estimations.

Sure you have to estimate pin gap, but it's a much smaller amount of pin gap to work with on a 5 pin sight... My point is, I'll never have to guess a 30 yard pin gap with my 5 pin but if hunting antelope, elk out in the open - I could easily see myself in that scenario with a single slider... But again, to each their own... It obviously works for you and that's great... I'm just stating my observations....

How many misses each year happen because the archer uses the wrong pin and doesn't realize it.....then they are baffled why they missed. Given that fixed pin sights are used by a large majority of bowhunters it probably happens more then a single pin user not having his sight set properly .

What I am getting at is, single pin, all fixed or multiple movable pins all have there own set of glitches that may take place. All of them can be mitigated by practice.
Look at conditions your hunting and decide what works best given the situation your likely to find yourself.

Personally I find myself using a single moveable pin most often, and 3 out of my four bows I am running a single pin. The fourth has a three pin adjustable sight...

If you do go single pin, IMHO HHA is the best sight on the market

I've been tossing this idea around also Jeff for the new rig.... Just can't sell myself on it yet. One thing I am pretty sure of is whether I go single or fixed it will be a Montana Black Gold sight!!

I have an HHA single pin on my Z7Xtreme and I'm having a MBG Ascent put on my new Carbon Spyder Turbo. I just switched last year and I wouldn't go back.

I must be the only guy on the forums that uses a Trijicon Accupin sight. Yeah, it's insanely expensive, but if you ever tried one you'd realize that you're definitely getting what you pay for.

It's built rock solid and there are no tapes. The length of the Accudial mount is adjustable so you can gear it to any bow/arrow speed combination and then adjust the laser etched dial.

It will never be too dark to shoot this sight since the encapsulated tritium makes the pin glow in the dark for around 12 years. No matter what the lighting conditions are, you will never have to get down before the end of legal shooting hours because you can't see your pin/pins. For daylight shooting, the fiber optics are top-notch.

I've come to truly love using the tip of the triangle as an aim point instead of putting a pin over the spot where I want my arrow to hit. At first it was weird, but you get use to it very quickly.

I used to say that I'd never spend this much for a sight. Well, I didn't. My son bought it for me for Christmas two years ago. Now, if I need another sight I'll suck it up and buy another. It's just that good. :)

I rolled that sight over and when I set up my bow I asked the tech about it. He said no. I said but... He said here .. put this on... I said but... He said trust me you will not regret it...I said well alright...
In the following days I did some homework.
Thanks to the tech I ended up with a Spot Hogg.

    Thanks fellas, very informative!

I've narrowed it down to this if I do decide to switch.

It will be an HHA or MBG as both of those looked and felt great in the store today. Both are American made too I believe?

I really like the idea of the trophy ridge react 1, but machined in China and assembled/designed in the USA or some crap line like that according to the guy at the shop. So that's probably a no go.

Axt driver 1. It's definitely the sweetest looking, but also hecho en china.

Shooting 1 pin will be a big change, but it definitely has a lot of positives and those of you that have made the switch seem adamant about not going back.

Only time and my wife will tell what I end up with now haha!!!!

Thanks again for all your input.
