My buddy and I are looking to go bow hunting for antelope in August (maybe this year...maybe 2012). I am a teacher,so if I can get after them before school starts....that would be awesome. Do you have any idea on what state or area to start research? Who had good experiences antelope hunting? Maybe paying ranchers trespass fees? Never done this before, but if I can shoot it with my bow...I'd like to try it.

Try getting permission from anyone around Gillette, Wyoming. The dang things are like rabbits in peoples yards. I'm sure maybe the chamber of commerce or some city office may be able to put you in contact with landowners willing to let you hunt.

Hunted with Miller Outfitting in 2009 right outside of Gillette. We had 8 guys in camp and we all killed nice goats on the first day. They are everywhere. If you can get permission to hunt land with a water hole on it, put up a blind and wait. You will kill a goat. Unless it rains every day.

I just drove this area for business - and John's sentiment seems to be right on!

    I saw literally hundreds!

You guys ever stalk them with a bow while walking behind a camo sheet of sorts? I've seen them do that with a gun, but I don't know if I could get close enough with a bow. What about the 2D antelopes? Could you get close enough walking behind one of those?

I would definitely agree that Gillette, WY and anywhere in the east central part of that state contain huge quantities of antelope. Never hunted them there, but drove through that area on I-80 heading west and around every turn it seemed like there was a new group of 30-50 antelope. I've actually had the itch to get up there and hunt that area ever since seeing those huge numbers of antelope.

I have no experience hunting pronghorn but Ive always heard WY is the cats meow. They also have some good public grounds from what I have read.
