Well this is my very first self filmed hunt ever. For all of our hunts we always have a camera man but my buddy was out of town and i had no one to film me. I did all this with my Canon T3i so all you self filmers out there know how hard it is to self film with a DSLR. November 1st and 22 degrees was to good to pass up. I left my house this morning around 5:30 with a 30-40 min drive ahead of me. I got to the property a little after 6 and packed up my gear, and camera gear, and headed out. I got to the tree, got everything set up in good time to let the woods settle down. I hadn't seen anything by 8 or so, so i decided to rattle. I did the rattling sequence and waited and nothing. I kept sitting there and hadn't seen a single deer. About 9 o'clock i was thinking about getting down to check cameras and move them over scrapes because i wasn't seeing anything in this spot that it is rare to not see deer. At 9:15 i told myself ill do another rattling sequence and then get down soon after that. I did that and a couple minutes later i turned the camera to do an interview saying i was going to get down etc. Im like 10 seconds into my interview talking pretty loud and look up past the camera and there he is, standing right in the middle of the food plot. I got the camera turned and set up. I drew back stopped him and made sure he was in frame and shot. It all happened in 45 seconds or so. I shot high and i was really worried for a second but i am on top of this pond dam and the deer is down in the dried up pond so I'm a good 35 ft above him. As he ran away i saw the exit was quite a bit lower than the entry and i could see blood pouring out and i could see it on the ground from the stand. This is where i turned from disappointed to super excited. Turns out i punched through both lungs and he ran about 60 yards and died. I got probably a little to excited but that's what it is all about. I just got called by my buddy and his girlfriend shot a good buck on film tonight too! I should be getting the video of my buddy's deer, from earlier in the year that some may remember, out there here soon and also mine and his girlfriends. Here are a few pics of the night. Thanks for reading all of this!
