What are you thoughts on small vs. large peep sights?

I always hear it's personal preference, or you should have a larger one if you're hunting in low light conditions. I personally have a 1/8" G5 peep on my bow, and haven't had any problems with low light, and have prefered the smaller size to center my pin on. Either 1/8" or 3/16" is what I like.

Has anyone ever had a problem with a small peep sight not allowing you to get a shot off at a deer due to low light? I have a very good set of glow pins- will that alleviate the issue?

I use the larger because of lowlight and snow/ice clogs. In 94 I was full draw and my peep was full of ice snow@17 below. I am now blowing it out as the buck was looking at me, never got it cleared, touched it off, clipped his artery at the back of the hind quarter and he took 17 steps and fell over. Big peep after that and always checking for snow.

Just switched to the 1/8th this off-season because I put a 5-pin trophy ridge sight on and didn't like how big the 1/4" was. Never thought about the ice getting clogged up in the peep- that's a good point and a good tip!

For my first few seasons I liked the bigger peep. I have solid green strings this year and switched to a smaller peep because the green strings make it extremely easy to center a pin in low light.. I agree it's personal preference and how everyone's set up best fits them.

I usually use whatever I can line up the housing of my sight with. Say just depends on how you aim and what you like.

I'm nearsighted and was having trouble focusing in low light. I got a 1/4" RAD Super Duece and am happy w/ it. I read that farsighted people may need a smaller sight for focusing.
