First time out this spring season. Season started in March, but have been unable to get out until today. Seen what I think was a hen at around 9:45 this morning. Kept waiting and watching for a tom to come through and didn't see anything. I kept hearing some noise behind me. I tried doing a little calling to no avail. I unzipped my entrance to my blind and spotted another turkey about 25 yards away. Kind of think it may have been a jake.
I have two decoys set up. One is a hen feeding and the other is a jake just standing normally.
The first turkey I saw (the hen) came from my right (west) about 20 yards in front of me. I was kind of thinking that when I can get back out, that I would move a little more to the west. I used a locator call that did not produce anything.
What do y'all think? Finding where they roost is quite difficult. I am hunting public property and it is all hard woods. Unfortunately, no fields.
    Thanks everyone.

I would get out in the evening and try to roost the birds with a owl hoot. Get out and walk the woods looking for turkey crap on the ground. Generally under the roost trees there will be plenty. Pre season scouting helps a lot when trying to find where the birds are roosting and feeding. Also unless it is pretty open in the woods I generally don't use decoys. I like to have the birds looking for me and sometimes decoy will cause them to hang up.
