ySo in a quick overview here I was able to obtain a new lease for this upcoming season through a Leasing Agent. My son and I went out last week and did some scouting and looking for areas to hang a view trailcams, stands and blinds. The Leasing agent has gone in and posted numerous Private Property signs throughout the entire 91acs with his info and phone # so it is properly shown nobody is allowed to hunt there. While there I noticed a fairly new 16ft ladder stand in a prime area. Once home I contacted the leasing agent (who by the way is a very good Dude and always been helpful) just seeing what my options were etc....he stated that the farmer has in seasons past just allowed anyone to hunt this farm but he (farmer) has told everyone that all their stuff needs to be out and gone/down by July 15th since it is now being leased. My Son and I are the only people allowed now to hunt the property. He stated that after the 15th should the stand still be there to take it down and place at the base of the tree (to show that its not theirs to hunt now) and if I want to then hang 1 of my stands in the same location. My question is, Ive honestly never stolen anything in my life and don't plan to, but if the stand is still there should this be what I do what the agent stated or would I be validated to take the stand or just leave it there and hunt it myself. Also, I get this feeling that I might encounter some hunters on this property who just refuse to listen and continue to hunt. I do plan that on every stand and blind I put out to tag it with my name, and also the leasing agents name and on the back state that be careful removing this or hunting from it cause a trailcam is right on it and I will see (hoping that might cause them to think twice before doing it) even though I'm only running 4 cams total and will be having 3 stands and 3 blind locations. Just seeking the advice of those that have had a entire lease to themselves, up till this season I've always been with a group. Thanks Shawn <+><
I've been on multiple leases in Indiana. I am currently on one where we have located a ladder stand (likely hasn't been hunted in a few years) and will likely relocate it. The property owners have never allowed anyone else to hunt this property prior to us obtaining it - any hunting was done prior to us was done without permission. We're discussing relocating that stand to another location or considering changing out the straps and hunting it at its current location. In other words - it's as good as ours. Note: Never stole anything myself. Personally I don't consider it stealing at all. I pay money to leade the property. Know for a fact no one has ever had permission - the stand is my property.
After the 15th if the stand is still there you could talk to the land owner about taking the stand down and him holding on to it. Take it down and take it to his house. Put a note on the tree letting the guy know that the property is being leased and his stand is at the land owners house. Sent from my SM-S120VL using Tapatalk
I had the same issues in years past about new leases and finding tree stands I would leave it till the date stated by the farmer then I would take it down sit it at the base of the tree and if it was still there 30 days after that I would take them and relocate them in my eyes and the farmers if they are still there 60 days after they have been told then they now belong to the farmer and he would "sell" them to me Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
