In early season, do you usually SEE or HEAR your deer first?

Just curious... when you guys are hunting this early in the season with full foliage, what percentage of the deer you spot do you HEAR first versus SEE first?

It may just be me, but the brush seems thicker this year to me (or my distance vision is getting worse!), and our leaves haven't even started to turn yet. While in my stand yesterday evening, I was just thinking about how different early season bow hunting is from gun season, and was curious about your thoughts. For me, at least, it's a lot harder to see that flick of an ear at 100 yards when it's still green.
