So I have just under 4 years left in the Army and starting to look to the future. One of the places I've been looking at for Air Evac Lifeteam is Sedalia, MO. From what I've seen of the town, it looks absolutely beautiful. I know there are several Missouri hunters on here, anybody know the area? How is the hunting in Missouri also?
I'm from NW Missouri, so I can't specifically speak of the hunting around Sedalia. It is located pretty close to a lot of Missouri's favorite attractions like Lake of the Ozarks and Truman Reservoir, plus you are only a couple hours away from some of the great rivers in the state. Sedalia is still far enough north of the Ozarks that you have plenty of crop lands, which tends to produce much larger bucks than the southern Ozark bucks. It's a very convenient location for the outdoorsman. I haven't spent much time there, but generally pass through a few times a year as I head down south for float trips and such.
Check out Des Moines, Cedar Rapids, Waterloo, Iowa City and Davenport in Iowa for employment. Anywhere along Iowa's east border and southern border are great for hunting.
Mainly looking for Air Evac Lifeteam so I can still fly when I retire, Sedalia was showing with openings now...figures!
Oh and thanks for the info guys, I know it's still a ways off before I retire but I want to pick the area I want to go to then keep track with Air Evac for openings as the time comes!
Well I have a friend that hunts (owns land) south of Sedalia, MO in Urich, MO and has killed several 180 to 200 " bucks. 3 years ago 6 bucks were taken off his land during one weekend of firearm hunting and the smallest was 150". I've hunted around Sedalia several years ago and saw plenty of 150" buck while glassing fields. It’s a hidden gem if you ask me. I too have hunted Truman Reserve and killed a beautiful 13 pointer on my first day hunting it. They secret too hunting the lake is having a boat to sneak in on the deer. Everyone else walks in from the roads. PM me if you want some more info and thanks for your service brother of the arms.
Selfbros, on top of what I've read online about the area and pics of Sedalia and what the other guys have said, it's like you are putting the icing on the cake! PM sent also, thanks
not a problem. It's not the best part in MO, but it close to one of the best spots. I mostly hunted on private property outside of Grain Valley, MO and personally seen a couple of deer that made me cry because they were too far away. I didn't talk for a month after that encounter, because my feelings were hurt so bad.
