I called a little one in the other day just to see how he'd react to my novice calling. When he turned around, my heart dropped into my stomach. I bet you felt like you were gonna have a coronary when he did exactly what you wanted.

    Great Story. Congratulations.

MichiHunter, it was cool to see them react once, but twice in two days, two different bucks...that was awesome (and lucky).

I was also was thinking back and of all of the deer I've killed, this was only my second AM buck...ever. The first? Last years 8 from the same exact tree:D

We have a local processing store here who does AMAZING jalapeno cheddar dogs and regular cheddar dogs. My wife and friends love them and it's the only venison I can feed my non-hunter friends without them getting weird about it:D

The bologna is going to be gifts and obviously we love it. I will grind the rest up for burger. Our does are what get made into steaks and roasts, although I did give my dad the backstraps off this buck.

I really hate to keep bumping this thread, but my brother in law just sent me this picture of my buck taken by his grandfather's trail cam about 3/4 of a mile from where I shot him. He had velvet pics of him, too, so he was probably a resident deer on his ground. The coolest part? His grandfather's land is only .2 miles from where I live (shot him on my parents ground). There's a good chance he was feeding on apples in my yard one of these late summer nights.
