Is Billy Martin your ad? Until you miss out on a coach because you're out sailing, tenn is still not the worst.

It does not pain me that the above photos were posted...I am sorry Phillip, but you already knew this anyway. You and I already discussed their situation a few times, and you know I willl be glad when you find a coach as well.

Butch Jones is a pretty good coach, he cut his teeth in the MAC. Two coaches in the NC game came from the MAC conference. If you look at current/past coaches who started in the MAC it's am impressive list.

    Saban Toledo Ohio
    Meyer Bowling Green Ohio
Kelley Centeral MI (also GVSU Vitos stomping grounds) Michigan
    Hoke Ball State Ohio
    Bo Miami Ohio
    Woody Miami Ohio
    Parseghian Miami Ohio
    Jim Grobe Ohio University

Unlike about 80% of the fan base, I think it's a pretty good hire. The guy has won everywhere he has coached. It may not be a splashy hire but I don't think it was a bad hire.

For once, UK finished ahead of UT on something. They hired Mark Stoops over Butch Jones and others to remove themselves from the field before the mega programs began head hunting for coaches.

The only hire I like more than Stoops in the SEC is Arkansas.

Arkansas has more money than Wisconsin's program....this is not only better for the head coach but also any assistants he brings along with him....he is following the $....really should'nt be all that surprising to anyone

Jones turned down the UK (and Colorado) offer because the TN job was still open. I actually think UK finished last in this round of coaching changes.

Most in the national media say UT made a good hire.

This is UTs version. UK never offered him according to most accounts.

Not saying its a bad hire, just saying UK targeted someone in front of him, and UT ended up with him as their 12th option. Not an exciting hire by any stretch.

That said, what each coach does from this point forward is completely irrelevant from the hiring process...and I expect Jones to have more success at UT than Stoops at UK.

Defense is what wins games as the SEC and UT proved last year. Stoops took over the 108th best defense and two years later had them ranked 2nd nationally...if he gets UK in the top 50 it would be a massive improvement.

I didn't read that from a UT writer. I read that on the Cincinnati side. Of course UK will say they never offered him.

I'm not saying UK could have even got Jones if they offered him (as they were planning to it seemed).... Stoops approached UK when he heard his name made the list and approached UK with a specific goal with how he thinks UK can win even in the SEC... It impressed the AD enough to get a job offer the next morning, the first actually offered from most accounts close to the situation.

Who really knows the truth with how these situations really shake out. Auburn put in a simple phone call to Strong then leaked it as Strong interviewed for the job haha.

I think UT has another coach in <5 years, only because of the expectations around the program. They aren't a bottom feeder program as they have performed lately (Kentucky is and would be happy with any winning at all lol)

He certainly said all he right things at the press conference. He's won at his previous two HC stops, now he will have to prove he can do it on a bigger stage.

It has been confirmed that Chris Peterson will be in Madison today for dinner with Barry A. and will interview tomorrow.

Seems Wisconsin may be on the right track.
